Question for you fellow ranters. I need to learn some new tech. But sitting down to learn new tech can be tedious. Don't get me wrong I love coding, but I do it 45 - 50 hours a week at. Reserving 10 hours per week to commute and 42 hours for sleep. Leaves me with ~60 hours for everything else. How do you motivate yourself to learning new languages and technologies in your free time?

Tbh I do it so that I continue to enjoy coding. My job has ranged from mind-numbingly boring to pretty intense for several months at a time. Some times I need a break from that to play with something new and shiny.

I do things almost totally unrelated to work however.

It's also not the only thing I do in terms of learning in my spare time, also trying to learn French.

Admittedly I have the advantage I have a 3 minute commute and make time to go to the gym at lunch.

@alwaysmpe gym is not a problem. I have resigned myself to being fat. However, I am too broke to afford a 3 minute commute. I would need a promotion and a half. And a side job.
