Would you consider your work being "art"?

I dont think I would consider it art any more than designing a car is art. I think art is always something that is made with art in mind. It is kind of hard to pin down what art actually is (and what isnt) but I think for an artist the main goal is not to make it "work" but to give other people some impression.

Nope, pure craftsmanship not art. Art is made to question, be critical and invoke reaction. My work is made to help people. They are tools.

Considering it art, implies you're doing things out of the norm to provoke reactions.

Or am I misunderstanding something? :p

I used to troll my teachers like that, I don't anymore as it mostly only increases your cognitive overhead.

    Coding, nah.
Dealing with all these muggles in a humane way, absolutely.

Some code is art, some code is craft.

Art implies an individual signature style, which is undesirable in most professional work projects.

But I would consider some personal projects art, because they feel nice and intricate and cryptic, they were born from egotistical desires to show off rather than writing team-readable code, and they're entertaining or thought provoking more than they're functional.

But again, at work it's a craft, not an art.

dunno, but I love my code that's kind of poetic in its own way

The product of your code can be art.
You can also write code like poetry which can be considered as an art.

Like for example, the famous bash fork bomb:
    :(){ :|: & };:

This 1 LOC is very poetic and so also artistic in my view.

But overall i view the process of programming as a craftmanship and design-driven, which is creative but not necessarily "art".

    Part art, part sorcery.

Modern art. Like the unmade bed and the half a pickled dead sheep that were famous several years ago. (I joke, honest.)
