    It is not sponsored, it is suggested! :)
    Microsoft knows exactly what you need, because they have collected enough data.

    For a really long time. First I thought it was only an ad but when I had a look at my installed apps I had like 4GB of those trash candy soda whatever shit installed. I ranted about that a few months ago I think

    @tracktraps I never was interested in candy whatever that stuff is called. Guess what they "suggested" to me

    @tfroseman welcome btw :3 you just joined the best "social network" in the world!

    @tfroseman They're there since the beginning. To remove them go to Settings > Personalisation > Start > "Occasionally Show Suggestions in Start"

    @Qaldim to remove them install something but windows

    Honestly I cannot defend them. Hardware manufacturers and Microsoft pump a lot of bloatware as it is. Ads in the system is crossing the line.

    Must be Home Edition. I've never seen those on Pro.

    Ads... Ads Everywhere...

    Guys I know it's annoying but I have to say that you can turn those off if you do your setup right... don't just click next read the "advanced options" (they are not that advanced imo)

    Haven’t seen them on my MacBook

    Welcome to windows, our app store has the most downloads! (because it auto downloads)

    Welcome to Facebook, our videos have the most views (because it auto plays)

    Welcome to google, we can give you results of everything (because you save every, even our private information)

    It make sense given this was essentially a free os upgrade.

    They should really disable it for the people who paid for it though.
  • 1
    @orto

    Absolutely not free. You might not be paying with money, but you're definitely paying.
  • 2
    @bahua that's what I'm implying. In any application if your not paying with money chances are your paying in data or ads. I'm saying that those who paid for it shouldn't have to pay twice.

    @orto no what @bahua ment is that you pay with your information (even private)

    @orto ooh oops my bad, sorry 😇😢

    This has been there since forever. Like multiple years. Also, they pre install candy crush and Farmville. Another reason why I use Linux 😂
  • 1
    But Linux is so wonderful... D:

    @ArcaneEye cute, you think that's actually gonna do anything?

    Microsoft's business model is collecting data now. Do you think that they're gonna let a simple exe hinder them from collecting your data. This shit is probably built into the kernel by now.

    @tracktraps Do they really? I've had instagram suggested or whatever is called that service where you post pics of food and stools. I rarely take pictures and almost never post them on web, except about 2 that I used for my profile(s).
  • 1
    @ArcaneEye "learning programming" and you're telling me you're not using Linux 😔
  • 0
    @ArcaneEye you don't know how much you appreciate your data being private until it's not private anymore

    In my case some apps got installed with Windows this app too. Rapidly deinstalled

    Those recommended apps are there since the release of windows 10 - you can disable it in the settings.

    @iAmNaN I have got the pro edition. For some reason I still get ads. Luckily I only have to use this shit os for gaming. (Witcher 3 :3)
  • 3
    @b3b3 I have the Home Edition and I haven't got a single advertisement... :-/

    @ArcaneEye you know visual studio is far from the only ide out there? Also, personally I think vs sucks. But that's just my opinion.
  • 1
    @ArcaneEye try monodevelop
  • 1
    @ArcaneEye idk never had any problem with it.
