So I had finished my work early in class and asked the teacher if I could do something on my laptop for the remaining half an hour.

I take out my laptop and immediately people start asking if I'm hacking.

3 people come and sit next to me and ask what every line of code means that I write. (I think they got underwhelmed real fast because I was debugging).

The teacher then comes into the room and asks what I was doing and I said just working on an app project. She explains to me that it is illegal for me to be hacking and I could get into serious trouble if I am caught. I facepalm and she says your disturbing everyone else get off of your laptop and read a book.

I left that class thinking is she even qualified, what is she thinking. Are you teachers the same.

It'd be so funny to see a parallel universe where all of us side with your teacher and tell you to stop 'hacking'.

I'd take her advise and read some book on networking, papers, etc. if I were you though. It's a minor annoyance and picking a fight you know you're going to lose over a minor annoyance is just plain stupid. Maybe beat her at her own game?

    Dude same here.
Me: *ssh into server during IT class because I found a bug in my website (only a small one for hosting my c(++) projects, don't kill me for doing it directly)*
Classmates: "b3b3 what are you doing?"
Me: "fixing a bug on my porn site"
Other classmate: *really loud* "b3b3 is hacking the computer!! Omg. Its white on black text. He'll get caught by the NSA!!!"
Teacher: "stop it!" (Etc all that shit. You know it yourself)

Like ummm... Why do people think only because I'm doing everything my class is doing in Java in C(++) that I can hack? Probably I could... But wtf. I hate my life.

Most of my classmates are nice and stuff. But there's this one bitch PISSING ME OFF THIS FUCKING FAT CUNT!!!!

@c2wiki yea I had a book handy and I didn't really argue I don't think I would get anywhere anyway.

@c2wiki Then again, could be a laugh to pursue the issue. It's what I'd do.

My wife always asks me how the heck I know what all of the black and white text means while I am compiling stuff with gcc. I say- sure, I've been watching it for the past 20 years.

That really isn't the sort of attitude I'd expect from a teacher: to immediately assume that you're doing something illegal instead of taking a moment to clarify what you're working in for everyone's benefit.

It seems to come down to fear of what the teacher doesn't understand and a refusal to address her ignorance.

@wiredgecko That could be it she was telling someone off a few weeks ago because they were doing the filter thing on snapchat. Also welcome to devRant hope you enjoy it as much as everyone else.

@Sukhi thanks, I'm a little new to development despite being a relatively old guy. 😊
