Which version of Python are people working with these days? Is there enough support for Python 3.x to use that or is it better to stick with Python 2.7.x for the time being?

I think the compatibility issues between 2.7 and 3 have largely been resolved because most people I know that are actively using Python are using Python 3.

2.7 I believe is more or less becoming legacy. Sticking to 2.7 was the advice a couple of years ago I remember.

I would never recommend anyone nowadays Python 2.7. It is the best to go to Python 3

Python 2 is deprecated, let it die

I agree that you should use 3.x (3.5 preferably) if possible. Depends on which framework you're using as well of course.
If a library you need isn't ported to 3.x from 2.7 yet, consider to contribute with it yourself :)

Support for 2.7 is over in 2020. So ditch that for 3.x.
