    I love PHP. It was not my first programmimg language for the web though. I originally started with Python Flask (or bottle, can't remember) and later on because I got curious I started on it. I really liked it despite its quirks, it made me learn to code in a more cautious way when dealing with web content, sanitazing and what not. Later on I started to look into frameworks and really likee codeigniter and Laravel. Now a days I use my own custom small mvc framework. It was the first language that introduced me to regex and building my own routing and controller classes advanced my knowledge of oop (of all languages i thougth it would be Java but no, it was php) and I was having a hard time with dependency injection in Java and C#, but php cleared it for me. Great language really, if you know it well you can take it and go for miles.

    Not really liked PHP for asynchronous usage tbh

    I actually really love PHP.

    @Torbuntu I love it 😍

    Only if it runs on HHVM and includes Hack.

    Even then, it's a hard sell because it lacks good real-time communication. Ratchet is the best option and it's sooo messy.

    @GodHatesMe you must love it then! :P

    @GodHatesMe Fair enough. I personally don't think the gender of parents matters really but oh well, you'll have your reasons :)

    @GodHatesMe Depends on where you live I think. I know families with two dad's and two moms, both handle very well over here

    @GhostInTheShell PHP7 and HHVM have compatible performance. There's no reason to use HHVM any more

    @hash-table i have started going harder at Perl man. These kind of lsnguages just click with my thought process. Perl once dominatted seems as a very powerfull language.

    @AndSoWeCode that's some bullish bs right there, I won't touch PHP without Hack syntax.
  • 1
    @AndSoWeCode and comparable is subjective. In large volume, HHVM saves a lot of money, it still beats PHP7 in almost every benchmark.

    @GhostInTheShell
    They are comparable,
    But yes HHVM can do things faster, and PHP7 can do others faster.

    @GhostInTheShell in large volume, you should be using neither of them.

    @hash-table oh man and it seemed as if they actually put an efforr in making perl 6 not interest anyone. The timing, the vm, the mascot......or the ability to not let people vote on shit. Perl killed Perl :( but Perl 5.+ is still amazing!

    @hash-table oh snap I did not know that. Makes sense tho. 6 is the number of the beast, and so is vi the editor of the beast :P in all seriousness I never gave much thaught as to what happened with php6. It would trip me out to wee books written about it but see every documentation about the language going for different numbers except for 6. I will eventually learn more about Perl either way, since it is still widely used. Are you in Perl Monk? It is highly active and the community there is fascinating.
