This is not a greatest OS in the world, no! This is just a tribute...

    Backwards compatibility, i guess
Some people don't upgrade as fast as we(devs) do

Floppy drives are still being manufactured.

Sometimes you just don't want to remove your old codes.. which sometimes you know what it does or sometimes don't know what it does...
Both ways, end up keeping your old code..

Pretty sure it is listed only if you have it connected. I don't have it on any of PCs. In fact you won't even see your CD/DVD drive if you don't have medium inserted in it.

@paziek what about VMs - same?
  • 1
I see that regularly (Windows 7) as I have mapped USB drives to a: and b:, explorer then shows them as floppy drives.

As additional bullshit you cannot eject those USB drives on a: and b: from the context menu, presumably because windows treats them as floppy drives and not as removable media.

@olezhka yeah snapshot is of VM.

@paziek strange, this is a VM.

@Olverine right i just saw its available in amazon india. Now im even more baffled :D

Well yeah, if you add a floppy disk in your VM, Windows will show a floppy disk in "My Computer", what a bad OS 😒

I'm a Linux user myself, but the constant anti-Windows circlejerk is getting annoying.

@vj99 Heres an example of an american company that still produces floppies: http://athana.com/

Just take a moment and look at this beautiful website! I have no idea how this company still exists.

@hawkes well I'm a mac user myself. Had come to windows to build appx was surprised to see. Anyways there are occurrences of floppy drive being laying around even after hardware removed. Coz im sure the machine doesn't have floppy disk drive. Heres free advice. dont bother writing a rude comment if u find a post annoying that's ur prob :) this was meant as funny rant. Cheers:)
