    Love is just a feeling,
    and your feelings are irrelevant to me.

    (Besides, sudo doesn't change the behavior of echo.)

    @irene i would say that there is. Just like there is a definition for happiness, hate, sadness and other feelings.
  • 1
    @irene love is something that you understand once you have been in love. For me the common definition is pretty accurate.

    @irene love indeed comes with happiness, sadness and frustration. But this is not the core of love. The core of love is love. Something when a person is on your mind regularly, if you can forgive the other person for something worse quicker then with other people.
    And yes that person should make you happy.
    And love isnt just for that one person, its also for family and your best friends.

    @irene no? Im not obsessed with my friends or family, but yes I do have them in my mind a few times a day. But love can feel like an obsession sometimes when you are in love wirh someone. But with an obsession you dont care about how the other person feels. Ive been in love with people which didnt love me. But I supported their relationships with someone else because I saw how happy that made them. An obsessed person wouldnt support it and would do anything to have that person for themselves.

    @irene besides making them happy it made me happy that the other person was happy, but it made me sad because I didnt have what I wanted. And yes this is also egoistic. But nothing in the world cannot be not pointing to egoism.
  • 1
    @irene love can be egoistic as well since you think everything is egoistic. But the description of love is undescribable to people who havent been in love yet.
    I thought the same as you until that one day.

    And sometimes obsession can feel like love indeed, but in two days you will know what it is.

    @irene you not liking it being described under one name doesnt change the fact what it is. It still are basically the same feelings. Sadness can also have multiple feelings but that is something I didnt hear you about.

    @irene i do agree its not the ultimate thing of happiness. It can be at that time but you never know when something else will make you even happier.

    @Alice what is love?
  • 0
    @irene I think the problem with trying to define it is expecting there to be a single, perfect definition. Love, like all feelings, is relative. Love is less fleeting than the basic feelings, imo, and is more like an overall background feeling that fuels basic feelings.

    My definition:
    Love is when someone else becomes more important to you than yourself.

    Maybe not perfect, but it is what came to my sleep deprived mind right now.

    I would find it the ultimate feeling of happiness for myself, it's helped me fight my depression, anxiety, and insecurities unlike any other ( more temporary and simple ) form of happiness.

    I think defining it for someone who's not felt it is like defining a sense for someone who hasn't felt it, like describing what being wet is like to some who's never been wet at all. It's going to be vague, and it won't make sense entirely until they have been wet.

    @irene @Codex404
    I hate to break it to you but what people call ‘love’ is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. Your grand parents did it. Your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle, my friends. Rise above. Focus on programming.

    Here comes @aitkotw, destroyer of dreams.

    @irene tell me the truth are you philosophical programmer? Each and every comment of yours is like making me do those spiritual things, close your eyes, let your soul be free and stuff?no offense though

    @Cyanite here we go again. Hey there, How have you been?😬

    @irene

    I believe you're mistaking "the void" for "hell". I'm not Satin or anything.

    The Void is a dark place where ghostly demons reside, and where a sorcerer would draw out the "Fith Element", "Void", for manipulation.

    Is is a sepperate place to the Underworld, and only Gods, demons, or god-level mages can visit it.

    Likewise, the number "6" has no meaning to me.

    The chips..?

    @irene

    Actually, I ate some ghost pepper corn chips that tasted just like Doritos, and they would have been greaaaaat with sour cream.

    @irene

    I like sourcream and cream cheese because it's thick.
