    Girl with PC: I will call a police...or maybe... hmm... it is black magic I need somebody stronger... xD

    Was her password bad?
  • 3
    Why they name me BOFH in a nutshell
  • 4
    She should give this a try https://mostsecure.pw
  • 1
    @justwellbrock and how do you memories these passwords
  • 12
    Honestly I would freak out if the IT guy said that too because either it means everyone's passwords are being stored in plaintext or they're just psychic.
  • 5
    @awnz bitwarden or LastPass or dashlane
  • 19
    @DuckyMcDuckFace
    She had not changed her password since I gave it to her
  • 4
    Sorry dude, but if you know a users password then your security is weak
  • 1
    @Linux Isn't a change enforced by the system?
  • 8
    @cjbatz @romangraef
    Forgot to mention that she had a post-it with the password om under the keyboard.

    Also, she have only worked for two month.
  • 6
    @Linux A... post.... it... *begins to cry in despair* Lost my hope in humanity. Again.
  • 2
    @Linux That would cause a letter of warning/reprimand at my company. We work with banks, so our security is super strict.
  • 6
    @cjbatz
    It is really a balance. If we enforce password change once every 2nd month we need to have someone that only works with reseting passwords for our employees because they will never remember what passwords that they have set.
  • 1
    @awnz @irene yeah, this one is THE most secure password. So far the claim from the developer.

    // end of sarcasm

    I send them mail if they also mathematically proofed it. Never got a response though :/
  • 2
    @Linux Give them key cards for auth. :)
  • 2
    @theCalcaholic not good against a motivated attacker, but not that bad coupled with another Auth method
  • 2
    @theCalcaholic
    They have it :)
  • 1
  • 2
    @Linux sure I take the job xD
  • 1
    @QCat By using a password manager. It's seriously the best way to do it.
  • 2
    @theCalcaholic or have a very good memory for stupid things like me. Even if a memory for useful things and a password manager is a more versatile setup ;)
  • 1
    @QCat :D

    Although I suppose even your memory will fail remembering about 30 unique, randomly generated passwords.
  • 1
    @theCalcaholic I use 8 categorized by security sphere. From 9 to 34 characters each
  • 3
    @Bitwise Aren't they actually using a 3rd party service (you)?
  • 0
    Why do you call it “girl with pc” and not just enduser/user or something. Sounds sexist imho
  • 1
    @DarkMukke You serious? XD
  • 3
    @DarkMukke
    Because it was a girl with a PC. If it was a dude I would have said so.
  • 2
    @DarkMukke
    Also, why should I listen to someone whoose name literally mean "Dark Cum" in the Swedish suburbs.
  • 3
    @DarkMukke everything can be sexist if you say it is, stop marking things as sexist and nothing will be sexist
  • 0
    @Linux but it isn’t
  • 4
    @inpothet I'm with you that talking about girls and boys is not sexism per se. But, just because you don't pay attention doesn't mean there will be no sexism at all. In this particular case sexism would be to say all girls are to stupid to understand IT Security (or something equal) which would assume something only based on the persons sex. No more, no less. Sexism won't disappear just if you stop revealing it. I want to make this clear since I get the feeling many take it too serious or not serious at all which both make me sick.

    As for your claim @DarkMukke that it's sexism here in my guess it's more your sensitivity to the topic plus a subtle sexism from your part which causes you to associate some picture with the female sex that was not intended by @Linux and let you assume he acted sexist himself. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to blame you, but to reflect you. I'm also sexist some times in some ways because I'm raised in a sexist society. It's a hard process to learn when we are disrespectful, acting based on stereotypes.
  • 3
    @justwellbrock so true, my think was more that people call the sexist card way to fast and way to mush.
  • 3
    @justwellbrock
    I am not sexist, and I dont consider this case to be that either. If it would be an old a dude I would have said so too.
  • 2
    @justwellbrock that's rather similar to my password in terms of complexity. I have to change it soon, though.
  • 4
    @Linux why an OLD dude, though? Are you ageist?

    *Runs away*

    Seriously though, people are too fucking sensitive. I have PTSD and as a result I lose my shit to the smallest things yet I don't fucking berate a person endlessly when they do something idiotic. We're ALL idiots sometimes, I don't care who you are or how smart you are or how PC you are or how disciplined you are or whatever, everybody fucks up sometimes.
    Doesn't mean they should be bersted for it and doesn't mean that's what they're normally like.

    And that's not even getting into whether it's actually the person that fucked up or was the fuck up in the eye of the beholder...

    And even then there's a question of how serious the fuck up actually is...

    In this case, there's nowhere near enough info (unless, possibly, if someone were to read all of OP's rants and comments and there's a sexist connotation in a lot of them) to claim sexism....
    So chill all you watchdogs with those unfounded accusations.

    Three facts concerning this Rant:
    On my work, besides CNC production (molding company) ther's a IT team developing a webapp (using our own factory as test base)
    1. Chrome stores the passwords... so If you want to fuck it up, you can use any account used before in a terminal.
    2. They changed the password to 1234 recently, on a database reset... No one else changed it.
    3. They also made a webapp to mark your lunch (my owsome company has a staffed kitchen just for us, we must pay but very cheap for good food all week, 3 possible meals , bla bla bla. On terminals without a card reader we must imput our code by hand.... It's the same pin code for the production software, the GUI is so badly done that we must try 3 or 4 times to click the number buttons (insted of a transparent backgroud, the clikable area is a round small button). Someone saw my Pin because of repeating attempts ... and this week I had no desert :(
