JsonBoa2924313dBet he never new there were lines at the airport, assuming that everybody just "drives up to their own jet and leaves"

MammaNeedHummus4428313dI enjoy most of my house work when I actually do it. Helps me clear my headspace and give me time while also making my habitat better and me happier for it

PaperTrail10734313dYikes, the CEO's mind would explode if I told him my weekend activities (of course, not every weekend)
- Changing oil (my car, wife's, kid's)/misc car maintenance
- Helping my wife clean house (mopping floors, cleaning windows, etc)
- Mowing my own grass/random landscaping project
- Cleaning gutters
Not to mention when I get home every night helping with supper duties (setting tables, clearing tables, doing dishes by hand, etc), helping with homework, some random in-house 'emergency' (AC/head not working, cleaning furnace filter, squeaky hinges, etc)
On the other hand, one of our dept mgrs bragged about how much is time is worth. He hires everything done (never changed oil, rotated tires, mowed grass, etc), buys paper goods (plates, cups etc) so he doesn't have anything to clean up (and they eat out a lot), hires tutors for his kids, etc.
Good/bad, I think a lot of the other mgrs have that lifestyle and small part why I'll never be a mgr. I'm too darn busy. -
shovethisrant6060313dAlso love that common misconception about how programmers can all just work nonstop and never get mentally exhausted as if you are doing some simpleton task 🙄. Ask why their company isn’t more successful and why it’s a shithole to work in.

jestdotty4532313dI mean if he wants to give you a raise to the salary of a full-time maid, so be it

jestdotty4532313dI bet he has no concept of prices either. What does a banana cost, Michael? 20$?
Now, sorta. Joke hit better 10 years ago -
Jaded-Phelps10307dThis is the sort of entitlement that ensures I will never work in tech again. My last company made zero distinction between medical appointments and wasting time outside the office playing video games - I was expected to work the time back.
CEO: What are your plans for these hollidays?
Me: Clean up the house. I haven't had much time because we've had some busy last few months.
CEO: Seriously? Are you joking? (I could see in his eyes, "why would a talented programmer ever waste their time doing menial housework...") I mean, you could be working instead and earning a couple more bucks...
(Fuck him, none of his business...)
Me: I can't delay it this time. My wife has dust allergies.
CEO: Oh. Ok. I get it. When I was a kid, my father and I had some serious dust allergies. The house maid had to clean everything thoroughly at least once a week.
Not surprised...
