Old colleague reached out to me. He needed to reinstall one of my web apps (combination of python, php and Javascript (frontend)).
It was harder to do than expected and the code was not the most clever I ever saw.
Not sure what I was thinking during that time of my life 🤔 -
Yesterday I deployed a change to production. One of the impacts was that the first service I created for my current company now receives 99.9% less calls and will make it deprecated during the next 2-3 months.
Was a strange feeling to watch the avg number of calls post-deployment. Somehow I even feel bad for the service now sitting there as shadow of its former self. Is that normal 😐? -
Here I am sitting again to explain to some nice people that it is not my service causing the havoc but the infrastructure.
Always getting cached content when using the public route (private is fine). When I firstly hit something it should cache then I get that content for every url I hit on that service (e.g. Getting the favicon when fetching the html)
Even when I stop the service the public route does still return content. Let's see if they accept that there may be a caching issue 😥😥😥 ah and the service is running in 2 other environments - must be an application problem -
!Rant That moment when after two weeks of fighting with a new staging environment the database is now reconfigured and performing three times faster now. Now bring the load! (I am so relieved right now 😅)
-
When a microservice you created does not perform on prod like it performed on the load stage. There goes my week and my self-esteem 😥2

Are there any worthwhile jobs were you (remotely) can code part time on the weekend. Want to make some money on top of my daily job.
Maybe it would also be possible to contribute in the afternoon (since my timezone is utc+2).
Languages of choices would be Java (preferly spring boot stuff) >> Python / JS. Any idea if that is possible?4 -
Transformed my gaming rig into a dual boot hackintosh since I had a SSD from my previous build laying around. Now the fucking thing boots perfectly fine besides that shitty wifi USB dongle which just reconnects 3-10 times to the wifi and then suddenly causes a kernel panic. Fucking piece of shit 😑

Think I will go for a quick fix and test it on my machine. Just reprovision the vagrant box I have created at work a month ago.
vagrant destroy
Y
git pull && vagrant up
...
Some random error
Thanks to the guy who broke the vagrant box ~.~ -
Just watched the first season of betas on Amazon prime - looking forward after the cliffhanger....
After a quick search I realized there will be not any additional seasons 😡 wtf can't describe how I am feeling right now -

Today I lent a noise canceling headphone for a call at the office. After using it for the first time I see myself using it more often in our open office - even without sound on 😅
What do you guys think about noise canceling? I was blown away by it3
