@LotsOfCaffeine you’ll be surprised how little you notice the less options, I moved a year ago once I realized that I was not using the apparent infinite flexibility of Android.
It can do soo much sure, but that’s only useful if you use it.
I prefer the clean, integrated and well thought out UI instead of Android disconnected mush mosh. -
iOS

@rov3rand0m as if Mark is out to help anyone, the more confusing he makes things the better for his wallet.
-
Wait, windows has gotten better in the last few years?
-
@AlmondSauce not that big, was about 90, 20 or so was the dev department.
-
@Hazarth no clue, many companies here seem to still be against it, I guess a lot of them still have small member syndrome running rampant through their management.
-
@Tonnoman0909 have not used zoom on Linux, but I’ll take that bet.
I had heard many horror stories over the years and it was most commonly described as shit. After using it I realized everyone needed to go apologize to shit for insulting it so badly.
It’s on a level of bad that would be comparable to Trump being president for another 10 terms.
I would vote for Trump before choosing teams, fuck I’d choose smoke signals and legit telegrams or even face to face meetings that required a 2 hour 1 way drive over teams. -
@EpicofGilgamesh Somerset West, South Africa

@Cyanide that’s the DevRant duck, Pandalf is behind the M1. This is my home office, the fish pond is outside of the photos angle.
Raining now so can’t take a pic of the rest of the view. -
@AtuM my soon to be former company moved us from Slack to teams. So I moved to a company that does not hate its devs.
-
You are forgetting HTML…
-
@eo2875 telegram and signal are the best contenders if you don’t want your messages used against you.
-
Don’t forget, they read the messages too. Otherwise why would removing encryption from backups be one of the first things they did.
-
A recruiter typed that one out
-
I’m smart enough to not have any personally identifiable info on my profile and to type out rants in a non specific manner.
Besides, if your ranting about your boss, odds are there are a million other bosses that could have earned a very similar rant. -
@Eklavya that’s the support indicator, it’s cause he/she/it is kind enough to pay money...
That remind me, I need to rejoin now that I am on iOS, the money on the sim in my droid ran out. -
Isn’t that sort of a job requirement? Isn’t being a loner how one gets into dev in the first place, I don’t know many football stars sitting behind a computer writing code.
Personally I am pretty antisocial in general, has not held me back in any way, my companies smart enough to put people people in front of clients and not the devs, they know the devs lack the required tact to sit there in silence and think that the clients idea could only conceivably sound more stupid if Trump said it, they will say it out loud.
It makes business sense to keep the tactless people away from those who sign the Cheques. -
@inhamul depends I guess, depends, I been doing this too long to accept deadlines, I give them so if you come to me and tell me I got 1 week to do 1 months of work, I tell you to turn around and get working on that time machine so you can come tell me 2 months ago.
-
@nibor no, I just run half the companies development and work directly with the CSA, the CTO reports to us.
Also in my country, bonuses are 1m salary. -
@AmyShackles monthly, before tax.
About 0.7% of annual. -
@inhamul quality over quantity, for the vast majority of projects you end up using maybe 10 to 15% of any given framework.
I rather write that 15% myself and do it properly without trying to cater for every permutation under the sun.
The problem with frameworks is they need to cater for everything, where as the project you know what you need to cater for, so why have code that is not used and almost certainly never will be, it’s a waste, on top of that I write better, cleaner code because again I can write what I need, not what I maybe, possibly, could potentially use in 10 years time.
I personally never care what the purpose of the project, be it internal or external, I will never write shit code, it’s either quality or nothing. -
@AleCx04 is rather explain to them how to work with good code then deal with the consequences of them mastering bad code.
-
@AleCx04 nah, would not touch that shit with a 10ft pole.
-
Well bootstrap is utter shit, give you that one.
-
@donuts looks like the top dogs are on it, all his shit from my feeds gone now.
It’s annoying how some awesome have a space for devs to bitch in a place they would be understood and then you get some entities tit who feels they deserve to mess with it. -
@rutee07 that’s a thing, i downvoted all his shit as spam.
-
@Bubbles I suppose a block user may also help mitigate this, won’t stop the ass but will stop subsequent notifications.
Maybe also have a report tracker so that if a user gets reported for the like 5 times in a short interval then suspend the account pending overseer approval.
Those would at least be good ways to stop momentum. -
@melezorus34 my bad, I was in recent on the stories tab.
-
@korrat then this is strange as the only mention of him I am seeing in recent is my own, is there an algo for how recent shows shit too...???
-
@melezorus34 everyone must not be very many as I scrolled back 2 days on recent and nada...
