Been waiting for a 10 line bash script from colleague. Read rows from MySQL and create CSV... so it has been since Thurs....
Comes to end of day today I ask him how far it is. "I'm about 50% of the way just writing it in C++"
How do I really respond to that? This thing is just a select on a database that updates a CSV file.3 -
People need to stop taking things out of context, a simple AMQP consumer that sends and email does not need a fucking container... I may have said use a container in the past but that does not mean fucking use for a project which you've made into 20 files instead of 100 lines anyway...

When your senior says he may as well stops working as I'm always refactoring his code...
Same sentence says I copy what you've done in other places so I don't see why it isn't good enough. By copy he leaves redundant code in there too.
Am I a being a douche is he just being over the top?
- He writes code and expects it to live for a long time.
- I write code and will go home and refactor my own code.2 -
Whoops, my head will be squashed tomorrow. Asked to put monitoring in other week by boss, sysadmin been complaining about high CPU, apparently 10 requests (different domains) to the one VM on our servers every 10 seconds is killing it. However this server is being used for MySQL and serving web requests by Apache and PHP. Then also running a few jobs like consuming queues etc.
Wtf do I do? Every time I tell him about more resources (we have decent 2 rack servers just running 20 vms and only 1 VM is for web sites) he says software should be made to work with what we have.1 -
PHP "str_pad" because it doesn't require a library, that would cause chaos when such a library is removed.2

After 13 months of 12 hour days going back to 7 hours, how will I explain productivity going up... (Been burnt out for last 10 months)4

How can you be expected to develop software and monitor it whilst providing customer support. How about recruit. (2 man team)5

This pretty much sums me up when starting a pre existing project. Like what the hell is "Batmanable" "Jokerizable"1

When you write a new project using TDD and your colleague who isn't in to it make all unit tests practically fail and also breaks code style tests and doesn't give a flying monkeys.
His excuse is if you write tests what will test the tests -.-
What would your reaction be to that?2 -
When your employer thinks you're going to voluntary come in on a Saturday to make sure deadlines are met.1

Trying to setup a staging server boss says just use AWS, system admin doesn't like that thought because it doesn't involve him so waited all day for 3 VM's and still not ready... All I need is 3 blank CoreOS VMs nothing fancy like even doing the cloud config no. Anyone else has colleagues scared of moving out of the private high maintenance servers in the basement?6

Need to have APIs ready, worked weekends of my own time still not done, why won't my boss get bums on seats to help -.-6

Brand new Mc Donald's just opened, second day the hot drinks machine and Frape machine isn't working, just made me realise it's not just developers that get this ball-ache.

When all you can think about is getting back to coding as the 4 day no coding holiday has just killed you from the first minute.6
