Starting the Monday with a good old heap corruption in a c# project that uses only managed code.
Occurs on 2/3 PCs.
Today is going to productive :/ -
Sometimes I just have a crazy idea for an amazing feature I could add to a side project.
Then my brain goes into a fight with itself over this feature, one side saying "that's a lot of work, not worth it" and the other side "but then we could also do this and that and hey maybe we could even simplify other stuff a little bit" and in the process getting really fond of that feature. After some time, the idea is really optimized because the lazy side of my brain hates unnecessary work.
Anyway, I just came home, created a new branch and deleted a quarter of my code base which is now obsolete. -
There should be an open source, Linux based Printer operating system. Like OpenWRT for routers, also works with almost every device in the wild.
This would be such a relief for everyone. Come on, most printer firmwares are crap.
Remember Scannergate? Yep, the one about professional xerox scanners changing numbers in scanned document. Went unnoticed for 8 years and affected almost every workcenter even in the highest compression setting. Just because they wanted to save a few bytes by using pattern matching. -
Hell will break loose even if you deploy your shit on monday morning and noone has anything else to do.

What the hecking heck. My Javascript doesn't work in Edge EXCEPT for when I open - only open - the developer console, then everything works fine. And it is hard to debug stuff without developer tools, especially since Edge doesn't note console.info when the developer console is closed.
(No, I'm not even using external scripts)12 -
I absolutely love Lambda expressions.
Except for when I didn't write them myself or they are not commented. -
I expected to need the better part of an hour for a feature.
Here I am, two days later, still trying to figure out a solution. Turns out, there is a lot more complexity to it than I anticipated. -
My university has a course "Higher Programming Languages for Engineers".
The language you actually learn there?
Fortran 90.
Technically they are right and Fortran continues to have quite an importance in the field of numeric simulations, but still. The name is pretty misleading.4 -
After doing my first web dev project, I can definitely see why most of you guys prefer backend over frontend.6
