@Bubbles
Also, moving to a new flat and spending a whole week without internet access makes you realize how much you can achieve with all the scrolling time; i did more in my free time in 5 days than i used to in 2 months! Being disconnected feels great actually (but i have to go to the library to pull and push, and read the doc, and clone and ugggghhhhh....) -
@Bubbles
Well you sound like you're on the right track then!
i'm a bit in a similar situation, just broke up with my high school sweetheart after 9 years, so i'm starting to learn haskell and functionnal programming (planning to use nodeJS and TS in a functionnal way later too). I'm focusing on moving on and i see the big void in myself as a wonderful space of creation where i can decide to put whatever i want. i'm going out with friends more, learning more stuff and getting involved with old hobbies i "hadn't time for" before.
My first answer was more in a reaction to the way the original question is formulated; too often i see ppl asking about X and Y tech while the focus should be more on their goal and what they are trying to achieve. -
i know nothing about go, but i do read tags.
Are you alright?
Is coding really sparking joy in your heart? then you need to code more, regardless of tool belt n stuff, just build something you want to build. Do it for the project in itself, not just for the kick of the new language and useless stuff around it. Knowing one more syntax brings little value compared to being able to properly build a solution (on design and architectural aspects)
On the other hand, if you code and still find yourself unhappy, you might want to explore new horizons or bring diversity into your hobbies... pottery class? reading club? sparring? seizing the means of production? volunteering with the elderly? There's a whole world of opportunities out there! -
furry, hysteric, antipsychotics...
except for #1, a one line summary of their personality suggest these persons could tend to have traits suggesting emotional instability, which, while being very attractive to some at first sight, makes it generally harder to build a stable long-term relationship.
while i don't want to dismiss the personal struggle of people facing mental health issues or encourage the people around them from giving up on them, i have to recognize that it can make personal relationships very hard and if it makes you very depressed, then maybe avoiding having partners with emotional instabilities could be a good idea.
Of course this doesn't cover the whole trust issue/lying/cheating side of relationships, but it should be hard enough with someone stable; don't go for the hard mode.
TLDR: a wise man once told me: don't fuck crazy -
whatever fancy gpu you got in the won't enjoy running while sitting on fabric... don't melt it down too quick plz

Because MS word underlines it doesn't mean it's wrong...

haven't look into the app but here's my 2 cents...
You should definitely parse the length of the line + spaces + syllabe per words to create a rhythm structure and use some kind of syllabe parsing to set the different pitch of the notes (like, map a degree of the scale to each syllabe and let the user change the scale). Next thing you know you'll be rendering a musically structured interpretation of poems and plays. Probably not the fist project doing something like that but it's still a neat idea. -

@norman70688 i only drink to get away from the servers

@irene
In my heart, you will always be a female human!
it's still real if i believe it hard enough! -
@FinlayDaG33k meh, just a teen carrying broken batteries in his pockets for months...
Anyway! you don't need legs to code! -
@heyheni
Had a samsung galaxy note 1 back in the dayz.
After 3 years, battery started inflating but i kept it in my pockets and it kept functioning normally for like, 6 months. then i had to change it and i kept the phone another 2 years. It's still working to this day but someone gave me a better phone. so i don't use it that much anymore -
@irene
damn, just killed the magic here.
I feel like i felt when i found out santa isn't real. -
got a good view to get in the mood for the holidays....

@AlmondSauce @bittersweet
C'mon guys! It's time drop that impostor syndrome. I see this shit everywhere in IT and dev.
It's time to understand that we deal with a large variety of systems of extreme complexity. Devs are not made to understand 100% of everything. Devs are made to use and make these systems work together. We only need to know what we need to know to make it work and a little more but that's it. And that's already a LOT better than the 90% of ppl who can't even query google properly.
Good devs are about good working methods and getting low-level technical stuff to get along with high-level vision. So drop the whole "idk by heart all the basic string and int functionnalities of [insert language here]" and be proud of your work!
and that also applies for the not-quite-a-dev-yet-in-retail!
dammit! -
words of wisdom right there.
-
wait... ppl don't just use this thing on desktop?
i barely could force myself to install messenger on my mobile and i spend clearly more time coding for mobile than using mine.
idk, never got into the whole "99.999% of social uptime" vibe. -
@rant1ng
my bad, i kinda stopped checking devrant (got loads of work rn) but i'm still in! should have more time in december to implement stuff! -
@polaroidkidd
united we fail! -
reminds me of that time a co-worker deleted /bin/bash from a production server...
-
resuming my sleepless weekends pretty well.
The only reason i dedicate my whole existence to code and obscure and complicated technical stuff is as a distraction from my social life.
And money, i need it to eat every once in a while and heating is great too. -
@mahaDev @Yamakuzure
hahaha i know, i know, i'm a little crazy sometimes. even a bit spooky (since it's october).
Turning yourself in a wreckage might not be a good move for your career and mental health. please do not listen to my shitty advice. just ask for it back instead of acting weirdly until someones magically understands why you act like an asshole and bring back the coffee machine by themselves. -
then stop drinking coffee until it comes back.
Whatever effect it will have on your productivity shall remain until your boss understand how much of the company's income comes out of that machine. -
@Fast-Nop
the other guy memes are now illegal in EU
plz think about these poor europeans.... out there.... without memes.... -
longest 4-days week in a while tbh
-
@leksyib sounds like a bad case of broken startup sequence.
Have you tried to shut it down, then start it again?
Sometimes, burning the whole place to the ground can help too. -
We live in a society...

@DLMousey
I feel bad for playing office politics. I don't like office politics at all but i've grown in a world where ppl speak like that so when the time comes for me to burn someone in a "correct" way, i can handle it nicely.
And i think it would be highly justified in this case.
But personally, i prefer to spend my time throwing dumb apologies all over the place.(#canadianDev) -
i agree with @DLMousey
propose something more professional, keep the core idea, just remove the more "colourful" vocabulary.
something along these lines:
ahem
*clear throats for maximum professionalism trough public shaming*
I absolutely agree with your concerns about the recent "deadline slippage" affecting our contracts. As you can see in the mails i've copied below, this has been a concern of mine for quite some time now, and i've made repeated attemps to urge you to act on this before anything bad was to happen to the project(s), which you did not take into account.
I'm sincerly looking foward to our next meeting where we will discuss the strategies i've been trying to get you to apply to our project management for quite some time now.
Best regards,
*end of public shaming* -
By room, do you mean like appartement, or like, an actual room?
If you are above 12 you should have your own set of keys. If you are responsible enough to have a cellphone/laptop, you should have the liberty to open doors in the place you live in.
Why on earth would you lock someone's (bed)room? Are they locking you in? like harry potter? Are you in distress or held against your will? Should we call the cops?
also, picking is a great hobby and a nice skill to have. Great initiative to start learning!
