23 machines down, 50 days lab access left. Hope I'll pass the exam on November and become an OSCP.2

Just wondering. Is an ASUS ROG worth it for programming and virtualization? Or there are better ones that are cheaper?3

Learned ARM assembly in just a day. I guess I proved myself wrong when I thought it's gonna be hard to jump to another architecture.
PS. Originally worked with 16 Bit Windows Assembly. 😂3 -
-Sent a proposal to a client in September
-Client's virtual assistant replies this October
-Virtual assistant interviews me through chat
-Every time he asks a question, I reply immediately; when I ask for clarifications on the project, he replies the next day.
-This went on for two weeks
-Finally, the assistant scheduled me for a meeting with the boss.
-Same thing happens. He replies the next day when I ask for clarifications because it appears the assistant is incompetent
-Finally both of them told me I am their guy
-I waited for a few more days for the contract. Nothing.
-I told them nicely, if you don't reply within this day, I'll withdraw my proposal.
-They didn't reply and I went to withdraw my proposal
-When they realized that, they kept harassing me through message saying I'm their guy. Please don't withdraw the proposal.
-Didn't reply and stood by my word
Some freakin clients don't know how valuable time is for developers. Fkn idiots.1 -
A semiconductor company wants a custom desktop program to graph the data from their machines.
Company: We want to get a trial version before buying it.
Me: *Just staring at them*
In my mind: Soooooo you want me to invest my time in creating a custom made software specific to your machines and you might end up being happy with a trial version and leaving me empty handed?
Might as well create the program and put so many pop ups to annoy them no? 😂😂😂5 -
Someone asked me for help with his netbook not being able to boot. Turns out the last person who tried to repair it wiped out the HDD without installing an OS. Another thing is that this one's legacy. Glad that I still keep a Windows XP ISO here with me.3

A few days ago, I saw a topic from hackernews about Xiaomi phones having a high risk vulnerability because of analytics.apk. I didn't mind it (I'm using a Xiaomi phone).
After about 2 days, I had a notification on my screen having a message 'test' made by my browser.
I immediately installed a firewall blocking all Xiaomi related services.
WTF Xiaomi3 -
I'm a bit frustrated. I'm 23 and I finished a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering last 2015. Working on a career path in cyber security. Is it normal to just understand and test the concepts and not fully memorize everything? It really bothers me that I feel I don't know anything despite developing small tools, testing other people's work, reading about related topics and playing with Kali.5

My internet connection here at home was 1 Mbps for the past 6 years. Whenever I download some big ass files, I'd think twice because it will take me a few days to finish. I just had it upgraded to 15 Mbps yesterday and it really feels good to not be intimidated by the file size in 'GB'. Oh the joy! 🤗9

Relative: What degree did you finish?
Me: Computer Engineering
Relative: So what do you do?
Me: I currently venture into software dev, networks, and firmware.
Relative: ..... Ah (Doesn't know what the heck I'm talking about) -
It's pretty hard to work with relatives in the family. They expect too much from you. More overtime work, no or less pay, demands are somewhat unrealistic because they want their project on top priority and the list goes on. 🤔1

"Oh so you're a computer genius. Can you unlock my phone? It's locked into some random network. The phone is Android and it's Samsung"2

Why can't we comment with an image attached? I wanna troll some devs with some plain old pics. lol jk. 😂😂😂

So I read about how NAND mirroring worked as a proof of concept on brute forcing the pass code in Iphone 5c. After reading a few paragraphs, I didn't understand how the researcher came to know what to do with certain challenges along the way. What the hell did I do in my 5 years of studying engineering? I better go back to the basics.
