!Rant

After only using linux (Linux Mint) for a week I have to say I absolutely fucking love it. 😍 One big thank you to everyone who has contributed to it, I don't think I will ever change to another operating system again (I will change distros of course).

Open source, wohooo!

I am in love with vim as well. :)

Also one big thank you to the devRant community and all the nice people I have met here :)

    @404response I'm chilling on arch over here... Although my specialty is chromeos when it comes to knowing the system and writing programs.

    Welcome to a more sane world :) enjoy it, further down the road take a look at i3-wm its awesome

    I would actually stay away from the major distros (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch) and use the forks. Mint is decent, the Cinnamon Fedora Spin is really good, Korora is decent, GeckoLinux is really good, and Manjaro/Antergos are really good.

    It's just too bad they aren't as well known...

    @RiderExMachina
    Also, to add onto @azous, ArchLabs is a great i3-included distro

    @azous i am setting i3 up at the moment but i am having issues with xbacklight, it doesn't work and i also don't get any error messages

    @RiderExMachina Why would you recommend for them to stay away? That's where the most support is (hardware, software and community wise). Debian, openSUSE and Arch are awesome. Ubuntu is by far the most supported and has the best chances of working out of the box with most hardware (something that can stray away a lot of noobs). The only forks I recommend out of the box is Manjaro and elementaryOS

    I find the forks are easier to use and have better included tools. The ones I mentioned are much better than their originals in my opinion, for example.

    You can also get the same support by simply using the original's forums if needed. And, I mean, the Arch wiki works for 99% of distros, regardless of if it's Debian, Fedora, Arch, etc based...
