    All I can say is that I hope it stays in slightly less crazy countries..... 😭😭

    what the actual fuck. It's a good idea for them until they realize that their own sites will be slow as fuck...

    @Aitkotw yeah it's just getting ridiculous at this point

    I live visiting Canada. I just wish it was less cold.

    @Torbuntu not a bad idea.

    This is so sad.
    Such a regression on freedom, ISPs will fucking monopolize information now?!
    I dont think this will hold.
    People will find a way to opt out somehow.
    There will be an ISP that will be free and it will win.

    Only time will tell i guess..

    well just don't come here
  • 3
    Let's just make our own ISP

    God fucking damnit. My entire fucking young adult life, still fighting this fucking battle. Fuck you anyone who even slightly was involved in causing this shit. I'm so pissed I just wanna punch that fucking smug-ass Pai in his face. I've contacted my representatives more than I can count on this. I've voted against this every chance I could. Goddamned fucking assholes.

    Just... Fuck!

    Wouldn't it just cause competition resulting in every isp keeping all sites open anyways because nobody would want to use an isp blocking half the websites?
  • 3
    @agentwolf44 depends. Take Netflix, AFAIK it isn't part of any group owning an isp. Verizon could throttle their Bandwidth in order to favor their streaming service.
  • 1
    @agentwolf44 not every place has choices for isps. I don't have any choices right now.
  • 2
    What if they throttle the traffic to pornhub? That may trigger wider protests.

    let's create a private internet using a complicated system of old telephones and dial-up

    Create your own internet? Check out TOR, i2p, and freenet. No need to reinvent the wheel yet again.

    Or just connect through a VPN that routes outside the USA

    Deregulate for the sake of innovation. Because that's how capitalism works best.

    Urgh

    @YourNemesis
    That helps partly.

    Who's gonna start a Kickstarter and create a new isp.
    With this promise
    "The untrottled internet provider"
    This is a great opportunity.
