Ubuntu forgets printers, Mint can't find my bluetooth adapter. Maybe I should stop being proud about Linux and give Microsoft Windows or MacOS another try :-/

nothing is perfect in terms of software.

    I use Arch, btw.

Nothing is perfect, but honest rants will not get you ++ ... You cannot wire something bad about Linux here, or even worst write about giving windows a chance 🙂

@SidTheITGuy +1 for slipping in that arch statement 🤣

or should just stop being a proud Ubuntu user, no?

@dontbeevil you even complain in rants which say something bad about Linux and something good about MS?

@Lensflare a troll ceases to exist if it stops trolling

@Lensflare where did you see the complain? i just stated facts

@dontbeevil it's okay to say something bad about Linux if it's Ubuntu

Give Commerce OS and Hipster OS a try, just don't come back crying, when the relationship doesn't work out.

macOS is objectively better than any Linux. Better even than OpenBSD? No. But for sure better than Linux.

    I contributed to elementaryos btw

I'd like to use something like openMacOS, just a little less vendor lock in, but more elegance than Windows and less dev ops than Linux.

Let's say I used to be a proud Linux user when I was far from being able to contribute apart from opening issues, providing data, and testing fixes.

I remember my feelings when I first managed to start x11 after weeks of compiling applications from source on a kernel 2.x Slackware distribution. The first KDE beta literally blew my mind.

Later, I used to be proud to invest that little bit of extra energy to vote against MacOS or Windows even when my employer would have paid the license costs. Proud, but most of all, happy about the freedom to configure.

But the freedom to configure comes at a price, and maybe I want to become "just a user" again - if there is any way to get back to that state of naive innocence.

    @usr--2ndry elementaryos?

@kiki i agree, the software is pretty good, but the rest is trash (that includes the company and all of its practices)

and i also agree, that elementary os would be the closest thing to a mac like experience. so you should give it a try @usr--2ndry

@kiki When the neckbeards come for you for saying that macOS is objectively better than Linux, just know that I will be there to fight them with you.

@AleCx04 the thing is that i personally don't get any use out of it and was in fact happy, when i got rid of all apple provided hardware. But I can't deny, that macOS has some useful and great features by default.

It's just a different UX, and that's why it didn't work for me (from a pure software standpoint)

However, looking at the rest of apple (and other software from apple), i would not even consider giving them a single dime, because of the decisions this company makes.

Always has been my standpoint, still is.

@thebiochemic I feel you, personally, the ui is one of the things that I dislike the most, not being able to change it as well, I also have personal issues with how hard it is to repair apple hardware and how it basically is "we can only be the ones to do it" , but other than that I do enjoy using their machines.
