    Text is a fucking everything!

Depends on the level. I think everything is a bit

That's because images don't work on devRant again

devrant owner cant pay for s3 buckets for shjt
  • 2
@b2plane don't piss them off, we don't know how close we are to deletion 😂 don't be the drup flooding the bucket 😂
  • 1
@b2plane devrant owners are too smart for Amazon services. Devrant is always online bevsuse they made their own infrastructure using digital ocean. I prefer that too

@kiki that's nice but it'll be the current users and new messages I'll miss, not really the old content. I've read alot from it already. We need smth like Noah's ark. The place we all go to when this goes down. It'll accept only one female C programmer, and one male C programmer, only one female python programmer and one male python programmer and so on 😂 only 40 devs left 😂 You'll survive, I'm sure you're the only clojure dev here. I'll go as female Delphi dev since the female C dev position is already taken
  • 1
@retoor and ofcourse, eventually all those devs have to fuck to rebuild the devrant forum and repopulate it
  • 4
@retoor I was going to volunteer as the Java male programmer but nah, the world will be better without Java
  • 2
@cafecortado no, java is great. I want to filter the world with C, Java (best of both world, in between, types and performance) and Python. Yes, performance, Java became 4th in some recent benchmarks. I do C and Python myself. Did write once a job site in Java and the interpreter of craftinginterpreters in Java though
  • 1
@retoor considering TTM and performance, IMO it doesn't get better than java
  • 0
@netikras I never heard about TTM, you mean this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...?

Should've I known it? Hmm, it looks like a bit hard language.

I'm having much fun with wren language currently. I'm writing libraries in C for it. Note: it's kinda new but also deprecated already, sadly
  • 1
    @retoor Time-To-Market ;)
  • 1
@netikras Oh god, It's just a term I don't use regularly. Did see it before though! Yes, I do agree with your statement. Since it's kinda compiled and is memory save, it will probably also contains less mistakes than a C or Python application. Fuck, we all should move to Java. Meanwhile I'll go work for Oracle so I can continue C. Like if they would ever hire me
  • 1
@retoor why not though...? They sent me an offer a few years back. It was a generous offer (financially), but I turned it down anyway. My current employer is much more cozy, provides with a lot more opportunities to grow and allows for a full-remote work, while Oracle doesn't have those (and others) perks.

@netikras I'm what you once described as a "man-child". A self taught developer. But with a lot of XP.. But you've also said somewhere that you know good self taught developers, so you're forgiven :P #neverForget!

They won't give a job to self taught I think

    devrant saver repo:

Step 1: install node and npm!

    Nah bro, I'm fine!
  • 1
@devJs use docker ;) I also consider myself hacked installing node modules on my local system. But once I was lazy and still did it. I'm lost
  • 1
@retoor when did I call self-taught devs manchild...?

    I am self-taught.

When I started working here, I didn't have any degree in CS

it doesn't make sense for me to call myself and like that...
  • 1
@netikras hmm, can't find the specific post. It is a word that you use tho - if you search for manchild on this site, so i could be right you've said it somewhere

@kiki NPM is not required for your project btw. You do not have dependencies. I tried your script. It works well but I was looking for comments. It doesn't include that
  • 1
@retoor ask chatgpt for comments. This script was written in minutes
  • 2
@retoor It's not a word I like (to use or in general) :D But ok, maybe I was in a bad mood or smth and said it. oh well :)

I do stand for attending uni/college though. It may not give you a lot of technical knowledge, but it does teach you to deal with stress and stupid tasks, cut corners wisely, communication, etc.
  • 2
@retoor lmao, just a single woman per language? That will severely affect our yearly procreational throughput, I emphatically protest this inconsiderate adjudication.
  • 3
@Liebranca dev women are a bit rare. We probably should allow QA women too to fill the boat. Maybe even HR! But no marketing chicks!
  • 2
@retoor Women could become the majority if we give them unrestricted access, and place limits only on how many of us dudes get into the boat.

This may cause violent riots in which many will die, but think of the benefits. Number one, polygyny. Number two, forceful instauration of a matriarchal sociocultural order. What could possibly go wrong?
  • 2
@Liebranca if there are more women than men, the women prolly will spend more time to look pretty and hunt for the for the men. In X country, that happened because of war. Even today, the women in that country look very well maintained. I removed country, since there are different theories why women are so beautiful there and I discussed enough in different threads today. I'm tired 😂
  • 2
    @retoor It’s Russia, isn’t it? 😂
  • 1
    @Lensflare very warm :D But yes - it's a country very related
  • 2
@retoor So what you're saying is they would sabotage their own opportunity to consolidate absolute power? Duly noted.
  • 2
@Liebranca women do already have the absolute power by default but we let the men think they have. We just let them play / think they're better while we dominate education already for 30 years or so. And when we're done with that, we're gonna work 17h per week :)
  • 3
@retoor it was a joke. since i'm web dev i have nvm, npm, yarn, pnpm, bower, brew, pip, gem and 32 more package installers installed, I need 512 gigs just for them!

// This was a joke too!
  • 1
@devJs I got the feeling the last one is not a joke 😂
  • 1
@devJs I know it was a joke, just 133.7Gb is needed for so many JS package installers. I've installed smth sick today, the green-metrics-tool. It's a 'tool' (you would expect a tool being a few kb and a ten mb or so) of multiple gb's to measure how much the footprint of your application is. It also required you to package your application in docker (what is for my C applications not really a default) and so many steps to execute and to configure. Batshit crazy. How can a package with a few graphs and some vague footprint calculation that could never be correct (how would they know what my origin power source is) be multiple gb? I can do it in 100kb problably :P You'll get ascii/ansii graphs. Written in C for low footprint. The project kept downloading and installing - i'm on a freaking bandwidth. * sweating *
  • 1
@retoor so that joke was just a few factors away from reality
  • 0
@Lensflare yes. Did you ever watch the github youtube channel? It's quite interesting but copilot is so much discussed there that even they should think like "Is this freaking normal?". Also, they do not really focus on the cool "amateur" / homebrew projects by "infamous" users while many interesting projects popup at github.com/explore. But very interesting host. If she didn't was a presentator of that channel, she could go in a Ritalin commercial i guess. Or no, the ritalin doesn't seem to work
  • 1
    @retoor no, I didn’t
  • 0
@Lensflare worth a try. I had it on in the background half the day
  • 2
@Lensflare 512gigs part? Yeah i use external drives for files because internal is just for OS and package managers, I even have installed vscode on usb because it is taking so much space that i need for node_modules! XD
