awesomeest123614hi used textnow for basic context (under a dozen messages likely all to myself) ...for under a week, years ago.
today, for the first time, i had a use for it....
i had 1 short, totally legal, non-harassing, use of sending 1 txt to 1 number. open it >> says my acc was banned cuz their server 'detected' and therefore i was suspected of "unusual activity".
i ofc just quickly made a new acc..
...but i went back to their dumbass form... which they apparently cant write a basic, extremely minimal styling form and needed to pay for a 3rd party form provider. (like it actually couldve been written in only straight html from the 90s and a simple POST php script (didnt check but they probably used some framework bs))
god... i so loathe the fact that my disgust took nearly a half-second to kick in whilst typing "3rd party form provider"... cuz that's, unfortunately, now a valid, thriving and multiple sources of competition, field of business. -
awesomeest123614him fondly reminiscing to the days when web devs got assumed incompetent\made fun of for even a temporary use of "Form Tools"... if only i knew how much worse it'd become...
if Orwell was immortal, im sure he'd have seen this coming. -
TeachMeCode521113hThis is the first time I’ve heard of a “third party form provider” 🤮😫I can only guess what it means😫!!! Only bc I never had to use one-I know how to do my role im being paid for🤬. Pretty soon we’ll be seeing “third party code providers”.
Everytime I doubt myself, I come across something like this on devrant. Totally boosts my confidence and self esteem -
TeachMeCode521111hAnd there’s entire libraries out there that you can use to create forms like MUI which even has its own site where they give example code you can copy paste and modify to fit your needs. If that’s too hard then the “dev”doesn’t even UNDERSTAND html, or in this case of MUI being react based, react. So not being able to do this means being a zero fit, just a sack of meat in the seat

TeachMeCode521111h@awesomeest maybe some of your kids you brought in can help these “senior”devs
(before anyone chimes in about not everything being about knowing to code, u can use libs and not everything needs to be from scratch, u also need soft skills etc i totally get it and all of that is just as important-but you shouldn’t have to rely on a third party provider which sounds like it costs money for a damn form) -
Reminds of NL, they try and outsource everything. Oh, you went to the dentist you'll have to wait a month to receive an invoice because we have a company do it for us.

retoor24422h@BordedDev the Dutch healthcare system, where you pay minimal 130 euro per month and on average 150 or so and still hospitals are too busy for you :P But WHEN it's your turn, the healthcare is great :P And yeah, I have the same with my garage, it likes to send invoices for reparation of cars that already have been smashed. Happened two times. Not both times my fault. I invested 3k in a car and smashed it three weeks later :P

I am SOOOO tired of outdated, easily circumvented, methods of attempting to find rule breaking culprits...
especially when they can't even come up with anything more specific than 'suspecting' "unusual activity".
