I really need help in designing an icon for my reddit app. Just the main icon. Please pitch in with concepts, sketches.. The best entry shall get my stickers.. At the very least you'll help a brother out..

@h3ll cannot afford one.. Besides I'm looking for just a concept. I can create the actual version myself

I'm totally for Open Source, but just where do these supposed designers & developers generate income?

If I don't use every available minute on paid work I wouldn't pay the bills.

Is there a developer/designer sustenance fund that I don't know about? hmmmm...

@ardinent it's not always direct income.. Sometimes you just need to do things to create a portfolio first. Something that ensures your clients that your up for paid work. So many people I know do sub 100 projects on freelancing sites. To create a portfolio first. In any case I doubt designing one icon would hurt an indie designer financially.

I pretty desperately want to get into contributing to the community. Really believe in it, hence my frustration.

Launched a suuuuuuper small plugin on wordpress.org recently. Just to get myself into the process.

But finding time to improve it is proving almost impossible.

Recently met an awesome dude in Indonesia that does great work for the local tourism and works as a environment conscious guide ( not all do ).

Offered him a website, but even just getting to that is proving difficult :(

@ardinent might I suggest trying a different business model? Do his website for free, and instead use his site to display ads for generating revenue. You could open source the core business logic, to allow others to contribute as well.. Reducing the burden on yourself..
