When you realized that the word 'short' is longer than the word 'long' itself. *flies*

bahua128017yI own bu.tl.
With the loose, half hearted intention of using the URLs bu.tl/ook and bu.tl/isten someday. -
Found a good enough one, not too expensive so will be registering when I get home 😊
-
@bahua Enjoying it! Going to try to launch tonight in the hope (hey, a man can dream) it will become popular 😅

Yeah, I still use it a lot. I don't know of anything that creates shorter URLs.
It's perl with a redis backend.
But no, I haven't written an API for it. Maybe I should. -
@linuxxx API. Nice, easy to integrate. But if it is all get based, then I would imagine your philosophy is give me a destination and I'll give you short url and you either fetch the existing url or generate new one if doesn't exist, is that it? Would I as user can request my custom url?
-
@yendenikhil You can generate a new one with lynkz.me/new/http://urletc.com
Then you get a json response which you can interpret and use however you'd like :) -
@linuxxx edit: rewriting all the things from GET to POST tomorrow so the thing above won't work :/
Apache and nginx don't parse urls right in get parameter form 😠-
@CozyPlanes Yup, working with Apache on my laptop and nginx on the server so I need to test in production ;)
This link shortener service. It's nearly good enough for public testing.
Finding a good domain name, though.... 😅
