I wish I could just switch off and sleep. It's past 3am already. Why can't I sleep?

    Looking at your phone doesn’t make it any easier. Actually, the blue lights from your phone decreases melatonin which makes it harder to sleep. Try reading. I’m usually out within 20 mins of opening a book.

    @tizo reading doesn't work for me. It's common for me to keep reading until dawn. Also, I'd need light and that would wake up my girlfriend.

    Speaking of my girlfriend, I'm really envious of her. She just needs to lay her head on the pillow and puff, she's asleep. It's her superpower really.

    That’s fair. I’ve only dealt with an extended period of insomnia once in my life and it was torture. My heart goes out to you. Exercise helps me a lot with regulating my mood and sleep. If you don’t already, I’d give that a try, even if it’s just a walk after dinner. Best of luck.

    @tizo I always walk/ride bicycle to the office. It's a 20 minutes walk. Does that count? 😅

    try to stay awake. Keep your eyes open and daydream for a bit. Trying to stay awake it more exhausting than trying to sleep. Don't just stare at the ceiling tho. Try to daydream, and then you'll fall asleep easily.

    Maybe age also talks. Getting nearer to 30 and I became a weaker owl.

    Best advice ever: pretend you are sleeping, eventually you fool even yourself into sleep.

    Try eating a 150mg+ edible about 2 and a half hours before bed time. That usually puts you right out. YMMV.
