When I’m at home coding, I find myself listening to music with earbuds even though I have a pretty decent speak setup hooked up to my computer. Anyone else do this?3

I’ve noticed a large uptick in these AI = if statement jokes. Is there a catalyst for this or am I just noticing them more?1

What ever happened to the teachable moment? It seems to have been replaced by the insultable moment. I was fortunate enough to have mentors who didn’t immediately assume the worst of my intelligence when I asked a question. I’m going to try do the same.1

Am I the only one who thinks monitors turned to portrait looks dumb and can’t possibly be more useful? The number one reason people give when I ask is that they can fit more code on the screen. I don’t know about you but I don’t have the ability to glance at an entire screen of code in portrait or landscape and understand it immediately.6

Sitting inside on a 3 degree day, wondering why I haven’t moved yet. Anyone in Seattle? How do you like it?1

People who savagely strike the keys on their keyboard when they type. Why??!! Do you find it more effective somehow?14

So coming to the two year anniversary of my first internship as a dev, I want to say how lucky I am to work in this field. I've gone from being a strictly front-end developer to being a full-stack software developer and one of the things that's allowed me to progress so quickly is the fact that in this field, we are able to contribute from the jump and get our work out there. I have friends in other fields who, in their entry level positions, don't get the chance to apply what they've learned in school and in their own individual studies. I'm lucky to work in an exciting field and that motivates me to get keep getting better. -
I read books on programming. The thing I most like about programming books is that they allow you to learn about topics that you would have never have thought to explore. When people look things up online, they tend to search very specific things, most times actual code. The internet is an incredible source for developers, don't get me wrong. But books allow you to learn about programming in a conceptual way which in turn will make learning new languages easier and allow your understanding of the languages you already know to be deeper.

I work on a larger team where we do continuous integration so there is a high probability people will be working on the same files for different features. As a result, one of the best feelings is grabbing the latest files and not having to diff first thing in the morning.

Finally took the time to start learning Angular 2. I wanted to do it right so I set up the development environment with webpack. Man does Angular 2 take a lot longer to get setup properly versus Angular 1. I mean it's worth it to do it properly but it was a lot more labor intensive getting a good dev environment setup than I had anticipated.4

Is it just me or has the appearance of trolls had an uptick on devRant? Is this a side effect of success or the price we pay? God save all of our souls.2

Anyone else have issues saving images from devRant? It keeps hanging after I try to save hilarious memes to my phone. @dfox2

Thinking about moving a lot lately. What cities would you recommend? Versed in asp.net, JavaScript, Angular among other things to a lesser degree.2

Finally tried using github for one of my own projects. I've always used other tools but I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. The integrated tools in visual studio are great.

ASP.NET MVC using Razor vs. Web API/JS framework? I know they both have pros and cons depending on the situation but which do you prefer? Go!

Obligatory joke about how much I need coffee in the mornings and the ways in which I cannot function until I've had it.

I hate to be this guy @devRant but the avatar creator is really lacking in Hispanic skin tones. I have to be either white or Indian.2

My avatar looks a lot like the 1980s version of Weird Al Yankovic. I never realized how much I look like 1980s Weird Al.7

It's like my life is divided into two parts these days. Some days I wake up and the sun is shining and everything feels good. Other days I wake up and remember that I'm going to be working on writing unit tests all day. :/
