Going to do our first social engineering pen test. We're setting up a general plan and we'll call for a meeting with a company next week. Any tips?5
What is going on with the web these days? 500 adds, 3 auto play video's per page and now this shit?!
Websites that do this should be removed from Google.
I don't think it's even allowed.
If you block it, it goes to a subdomain 1.<website> and asks for permission again. If you block that one it'll go to 2.<website>, up until 10.<website>, then it switches to either a "get Express VPN" or another website that asks for permission. And that one even claims to be reCAPTCHA! and then another that asks you to press "Allow" in order to watch the video. What video?!25
So I went to a car repair center and asked if they could fix my bike. They said they could but they won't. This is outrageous, obviously a bike is less complicated than a car and they can actually fix it, they just won't because it's "not their job". Unbelievable!
//This didn't really happen of course
//people don't think this is acceptable, but if I won't fix their laptop they are surprised and act the same way. I study ICT (embedded software engineering and cyber security, but they don't understand that so ICT it is) so I HAVE to fix their laptop....
//Non-techies should really learn that just because we can do something, we don't have to do what they ask of us11
My first project was a batch/visual basic script that could do a few things. Open and close CD trays, show a fake virus pop-up, log off, and some other misc stuff.
My second script was a 1 line batch script with vbs generated from itself. It would fuck up your system, put itself in startup, try and replace Explorer.exe with itself, show stuff on screen, reboot it, put itself in strange places so it could be run of the user did something like access Windows features. Never used it but it was fun to make
While calling a tech company:
10 *music starts playing*
20 "You're second in queue"
30 GOTO 10
Is it so fucking difficult to let the music continue so I won't have to hear the same 10 seconds of the beginning of this already annoying song?!
When I finally get connected they tell me my order won't be in stock for another month... I just want my beautiful monitor 😭1
Definitely Dungeons & Dragons.
One of the oldest geeky fantasy roleplaying games and I love it.
My first teacher teacher at my bachelors got me into it. Tried it out and I've need addicted ever since.8
Been looking for a light-ish, stable but beautiful (not outdated) DE. Any advice or opinions?
I'm torn between Mate, Gnome3, KDE and even XFCE.
I currently use Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS and I love the indicator applets and dock. I know the applets can be used in other DE's as well but I'm uncertain about the dock. Plank and docky don't feel right and I couldn't get dockbarx on Debian (which I experimenting with instead of Ubuntu).
I'm now considering just sticking with Ubuntu, install 18.04 LTS and change the DE to something new.
I will use it as a daily driver for programming, heavy Chrome usage and some games (via wine). What do you guys suggest?20
Goals for this year?
Not so much dev related
In no particular order:
- Move out (actually nearly completed)
- Finish this year of school
- Program some more in my spare time to practice
- Reinstall Windows and Linux
- Finish my D&D dungeon and test it
- Play more D&D
- Improve my mental and physical health
Pentesting for undisclosed company. Let's call them X as to not get us into trouble.
We are students and are doing our first pentest at an actual company instead of assignments at school. So we're very anxious. But today was a good day.
We found some servers with open ports so we checked a few of them out. I had a set of them with a bunch of open ports like ftp and... 8080. Time to check this out.
"please install flash player"... Security risk 1 found!
System seemed to be some monitoring system. Trying to log in using admin admin... Fucking works. Group loses it cause the company was being all high and mighty about being secure af. Other shit is pretty tight though.
Able to see logs, change password, add new superuser, do some searches for USERS_LOGGEDIN_TODAY! I shit you not, the system even had SUGGESTIONS for usernames to search for. One of which had something to do with sftp and auth keys. Unfortunatly every search gave a SQL syntax error. Used sniffing tools to maybe intercept message so we could do some queries of our own but nothing. Query is probably not issued from the local machine.
Tried to decompile the flash file but no luck. Only for some weird lines and a few function names I presume. But decompressing it and opening it in a text editor allowed me to see and search text. No GET or POST found. No SQL queries or name checks or anything we could think of.
That's all I could do for today. So we'll have to think of stuff for next week. We've already planned xss so maybe we can do that on this server as well.
We also found some older network printers with open telnet. Servers with a specific SQL variant with a potential exploit to execute terminal commands and some ftp and smb servers we need to check out next week.
Hella excited about this!
If you guys have any suggestions let us know. We are utter noobs when it comes to this.6
Wanted to switch from Arduino IDE to VSCode. Arduino extention is now open source and debugging is now possible! But not for the boards we use... Of fucking course it isn't and they don't even mention that properly. Screw you and your half arsed features!3
Just joined the ++ dark side. I've been part of this community for a while now and it's on of the best if not the best I've ever seen!
Even though I don't have a close connection to any of you I still want you to know I love all you guys/galls!
Thanks to the devs for creating this wonderfull app and keeping it updates. Go get yourself a cup of coffee with this extra income.6
Why do tech impaired people always break their tech and they have "no idea" how it broke...
Seriously? What did you do? You know what you were doing? Were you touching random setting again? For fuck sakes just tell me. You've fucking it up 3 times this week already it's not like I don't know your an incompetent prick.4
Updated Nvidia drivers, installed latest wine, Vulkan, DXVK (<3) and Overwatch. It now runs on ultra on Ubuntu 16.04 with around the same fps as on high on Windows. Gotta love the Linux community!13
I'll just leave this here for all the cli fans. It's a cli launcher for Android.
I don't want too often about window but this....
I'm just trying to set the language from German to Dutch. I have changed everything from Germans to Dutch in the idiotic Settings and in the proper Control Panel. Still German...
Okay. Let's delete German all together and reboot... Still fucking nothing. Wth?
Eventually downloaded the package manually. Running LPKSETUP gives me the option to install it and remove German.
WHY THE FUCK WAS GERMAN THE ONLY LANGUAGE THERE AND WHY WAS IT STILL THERE?!
I FUCKING REMOVED THE LANGUAGE IN ALL SETTINGS AND CONTROL PANEL.
MICROSOFT CAN GET FUCKED IN THE ASS WITH A CACTUS FOR MAKING IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE LANGUAGES.
I still think it's weird because I could change my own Windows from Dutch to English just by changing it in the stupid Settings app
(while typing this rant an error occured. Just error. Nothing more. So Dutch still isn't installed. Fucking fuck)4
I feel like I have to boot into Linux before making a screenshot of something in order to get more ++ because people love Linux and (most) hate Windows.7
Girlfriend was making science homework while suddenly this appeared. Real helpful. What a great developer must that be.4
Starting my first small c++ project with website interaction on an Ubuntu server as practice for next semester. Any good recommendations to get user input from a webpage using only c++ (there can be html within the c++ program of course) and libraries?
I have once worked with an httpd-deamon and got user info from the url but I want a user to be able to fill in 2 textboxes and submit them using a button.
Plain text is good enough and it will only be used by 2 people once every week or so.8
So we got this new teacher last year. He is a decent programmer but has never made anything using C#.
When he had to start teaching it to the first year students he wanted to practice.
He made 1 cli program that only used 1 class besides main and that wasn't even used properly.
His words after he was finished: "I'm now a C# expert"
What!? No you're not! Why don't you just take the student course so you know what you have to teach next week!?
