I'm a Senior Developer. I take my junior developers seriously. I learn a lot from them too.

Quit your job and work somewhere else. If its still the same it might be you instead of them

@error503 That's how it should be. If you don't take them seriously, chances are you'll be stuck with old knowledge.

If you want to be takes seriously, do a side project, for your company if you can. Make it open source so they can read your code.

There are two things , one: solving the problem , second building a product. And there is also one more thing : the new generation is curious

Maybe you suck and therefore they don't take you seriously.

@electrineer they don't take any jr dev seriously

Because you don't know shit xD just kidding, è everyone's been there! It's not what you know (you 99% know more than senior devs) but it's a matter of experience!

@Root :( the company I work for has 12 female devs I think, tech lead is a female as well. So it can get better.

    Clue’s in the name.

While I also learn things from my junior developers, I appreciate the fact they are humble enough to recognize they are juniors due to their lack of actual real industrial work experience.

I always make sure my junior develops feel life a part of the team and make sure they are exposed to everything, so one day soon they will no longer be a junior.

There is nothing worse than a green junior, fresh out of uni who thinks they know everything. The true is 100% has 0% relevance. So top tip, do what is asked of you, and try to learn from the experience.

@BM32 I've had more programming experience as junior then a medior at the same company. I was programming since I was 12 and he started when he was 20, I joined the company when I was 20, he when he was 21.

Sometimes juniors do have more experience

@Codex404 I’ve been dodging it since I was 8. But that means absolutely nothing when you work professionally. Is not about when you stated but how my actual industrial experience you have. I’ve met MANY people who have made the same claims as you but in reality, their experience counted for absolutely nothing in the work place, in fact it had a negative impact as they were arrogant and u Illini to unlearn what they think they knew.

If you are as good as you claim to be, it is your own fault you are a junior if after being at a company for 1 year as you have failed to prove your value to your peers and seniors. Within that first year, it is your duty to suck it up, swallow your pride, throw away your arrogance and do the one thing you are hired for... to execute the vision of the company.

Yes, there are many “seniors” who are worth less than sh!t and they will get their comeuppance. But no matter who or what they are, YOU ARE a Junior so play the part well and aim a pay rise

@BM32 well Im a senior dev now. And your main thing you mention about juniors with knowledge is arrogance... But thats not just juniors, but also for seniors. If you are a junior with knowledge and are not arrogant its really no issue to suggest things.

The term isn’t mutually exclusive. The only reason people upgrade to “senior” is because there is someone beneath them, not because they are any better at their work.

@BM32 What did change your mind? Because thats basically what Ive said from the start
