"How much of a dev are you, if you use other peoples work and just glue it together?" I once asked a friend who really loves npm and everything.

I know about code reuse and maintainability and all that but geez we had a long discussion..😅

It's often fun and useful to write your own tools from scratch but it's also often just stupid to reinvent the wheel. Reusing other people's code does not make you a worse developer.

Depends, if someone else can do it better then me, I’ll use theirs, if not I’ll write it my self.

When I learn new stuff I also love to try it out on my own just to realize how awesome some frameworks take off the work from me when using them

I'm always learning something new, I mean every day of the week. Most of my work is the result of some tutorial or another so is any of it 'my work,'. We all stand upon the shoulders of Giants.

I think learning something new is part of the fun doing the stuff we're doing. When I think of my former job in a totally different profession this is something so amazing
