2 Questions for guys [and gals, let's not be sexists..] with beards.

1. Why the beard? :)
2. What dev are you [bkend/fend/fstack, what lang.?]? Or admin?

I wonder if there is a correlation..

    Lazy, fstack, mostly js atm.

Beard directly correlates to sysadmin level, so that's why me, @Linux and @linuxxx all have beards. @Linux currently has the longest beard among us, and well-deserved indeed!

I've been beard-fluid for years. Also constantly stack-fluid when I come to think about it :|

I'm a gal, currently with a shaved beard (I only let it grow in the winter).

I'm a full stack developer (used to work with C# and Angular2, just switched to Node.js and ReactJS).

When are you allowed to spit in a [insert obscure country to make this joke racist] woman's face???

There are many reasons for the beard

    1. I like having it

    2. I've been very hairy since a young age, so maintaining the beard actually takes less time and effort than maintaining a clean shave would (used to take me like 40 minutes to do a decent shave when I was in high school)

    3. I'm 20. Most of my friends can't grow such a beard, I need to remind them of this constantly and put them in their place

    4. Science said females like beards. I have found no evidence of this though. It's only ever dudes who compliment the beard

I'm a trainee at the moment so I mostly do front and write tools for in-house use to make our lives easier. I was heard for my Java skills but I've only done .NET stuff since starting here (1st Aug will be a year)

    1. Lazy
    2. Frontend

    First: too lazy to shave
Second: I usually write tools in C# or C++, though I started getting into Android dev a little while ago

    1. I think the question is upside down. Shaving is an action; beard grows on its own. So when it starts growing, it becomes a question of why should you shave.

    2. Working on embedded software, so whatever is related to it.

To all the bearded devs who cited "laziness" as their reason, Bill Gates thinks you are better devs:

@Condor i have a beard and i manage Cybersecurity and infrastructure (as per the job description) of my organisation

i hope it counts in sysadmin

@chowdercake beards aren't exclusive to sysadmins :) great to hear that you and your company care about security though. There really should be more people and organizations like that.

    @Condor Still growing it and I'm a sysadmin+programmer+security guy ;)
