Buying 2015 8gb MacBook air,
Good call??

I've got a 2013 mbpro with 8GB and I've had no problems with it for full stack. (heck, my best friend uses an air and it's good)

I would go pro instead of air for development.

Unless you're broke then I would recommend a strong (but less expensive by far) windows laptop. Then install Linux on it.

@personman74 I use PC for work and Mac for my own company. Mac wins... even over linux. Linux is best for server imo.

I need some designing apps like sketch and affinity so I guess Linux is out of question @personman74

if you take your laptop with you and you can afford it: get a a macbook 12". its screen is much better than a mb air and the portability is awesome!.
or you wait until 7. september when apple probably is releasing its new mb pro.

@kshitij hands down go for a mb pro. both air and pro are awesome but if you're even thinking the slightest bit about design then go for a pro. And if you cant afford a new one search for a used 2013-2014 one. Probably the best ones so far. Otherwise as others already suggested go for a great laptop (like the dell 7559 with the gtx gpu which is a monster for its price) and dual boot it with linux as youe main OS and windows for all your designing/gaming.

Wait until after the next release cycle (7 Sept), then shop for a refurbished MacBook Pro.

I don't know what tools you use but I regret buying MBP with 8 GB instead of 16...
