I made a setting that hides your messages in a group chat. The UX guy said it would "cut down noise" to only see what others are saying.

I would like to tell you that I did this thing at gunpoint, but the truth is I did it out of malice. Sweet, sweet malice.

When the community reacted with the expected, uh, reaction... the UX guy got all the credit he deserved.

Sweet, sweet malice.

What. How? How did a UX-guy think this was a good idea? If a manager or PO would have suggested it I would've understand but coming from the UX??

It's actually a fun way of saying that the noise is always you.

"Guys. What did I say there?"
"did I say that? Someone screenshot it for me"

UX people only get half the credit they deserve, and they only half deserve the credit they get!

Never trust UX people; it is in their best interest that the UX is constantly changing and being flipped on its head, for job security reasons. They do not have the user's best interest at heart šŸ˜‘
