My leaders asked me to run the technical interviews for a position I have been asking for since I got this job. Because I am the only in the team that codes for Android. Am I friend-zoned in my job ?

it sounds like he or she may just have low expectations for you or no respect. I would say go after the position and make a case for yourself. Maybe they don't know you want the position or feel like you don't want it enough?

@kfroemming I have explicitly told him I wanted the position, but he replied I could not be there since I am already a dev lead from a web team.

@pavloglez that sucks man. Is anyone on your team ready to take over? shifting you both and hiring a junior could save them some money and leave everyone happy.

@pavloglez you carreer belongs to you, not the company. If you really want to work as an Android dev you should look elsewhere for a position that suits your needs.

But if you want to stay where you are, do make a case for yourself and tell the boss you can deliver much more value to the company as an Android dev.
