Factoring in the cost of living in Serbia that’s like earning $32,000 living in the United States... 😢
Unless I did my math wrong (cost of living in Serbia is ~50% lower than in the US) -
I feel sorry for my Serbian colleagues. Here in NL as freelancer it's 15 to 20 K euros a month.
-
hell165966yU$ 17k / year ... Without taxes...
And its an above average salary here. But still sucks... -
@iKameo dude obviously which is why i said €3xyz where x,y,z is a set of numbers {x,y,z ∈ N∪0 | x,y,z >= 0 Λ x,y,z <= 9}
-
Root797486yI'd be rich if I lived in Serbia, then. Or Nigeria, or Congo, or India, or anywhere with similarly poor economies. But I don't, so I'm not.
What I make here is pretty low for here. Hence my bitching that I'm underpaid. -
Root797486y@Charon92 exactly. Just because someone else has it worse doesn't mean your situation couldn't be better.
I'm not going to happily abstain from taking advil for my headache just because Johnny lost his leg. -
Dude, it's not how much you earn, but how much can you buy for it. Try moving to LA and be a ultra-senior-jedi dev there. You'll be living in a cardboard. If you're a good developer and want to live somewhere else, then do it.
-
cst199220556y@kargaroth How much would be the salary of a dev with a CS degree and say, 5 years of experience in LA?
-
@cst1992 salaries depends on quite a lot.
Back end devs earn overall more than frontend devs.
Game devs earn a bit less than application devs.
Then the experience. Is your experience at companies with 500 devs and have little to no input or is the experience in a company with ten devs and did you have a leading role? -
taglia5716y@Charon92 come living in Switzerland, you'll find UK rents really cheap.
If think comparing salaries, here, is really stupid. We are comparing salaries, but not living costs.
I can say that I earn ~4500$ per month, which could be seems a ton of money for some other people from some country (like Iran, as @Shahriar said). But then there are living cost. Each month I pay 1600$ for rent, 800$ for taxes, 400$ for health insurance.. and almost 2/3 of my salary is gone. Still need to buy food, pay bills (electricity, phone, internet, and so on..)
So, salary by itself is quite useless.. :/ -
@taglia That's true. But don't forget I've to pay 1000$ for a new iPhone, that means i have to save money for one or two years
-
Wait are you saying this is good? Serbia has same standard as my country, so thats very low..
this is an average salary ***Per Year*** of an ultra advanced experienced software engineer who lives in serbia, europe. the sad part is not that this is per year, the sad part is that this is so much money in this country that if you have this salary *Per Year*, you're one of the richest men in the block.
another sad part is, these $15,000 american US dollars are equivalent to 1.5 Million in our currency.
so basically people are so satisfied with this salary because they are basically "millionaires".
now tell me again, how bad is your salary?
