Writing codes on paper even when you have a laptop with the language and IDEs because college.

well, it's not that bad to write code on piece of paper. IDEs tend to help too much if you're supposed to learn coding in the first place. You won't learn much with autocompletion, syntax highlighting, auto formatting and all the other stuff. in the beginning you should know exactly what you're dong and why, without the help from IDE if you really want to learn.

i write pseudo-code on paper (whiteboard) a lot at work. but ive never coded on paper.

i tend to do this a lot on trains/planes when i'm bored... but nowadays it always reminds me of that guy who got arrested(?) for writing math formulas while being on a plane.. so maybe i should stop

@kargaroth Been coding for 7 years now. Still have to write codes on paper because coding on laptops is 'sin' here in India

In my first year algorithms class, we did write pseudo-code and some time real code on paper during exam, but it wasn't that hard.

Yeah, my midterms and final are supposedly all on paper. It's not the syntax I'm worried about, but having to edit something...

@kargaroth well once you are comfortable with the syntax and stuff, paper just slows you down. and my handwriting doesn't help.

Mann, same in the U.S. At least we did in my university and I know some friends who also had to do this at their university as well because, according to professors, we will either copy code from online or share among ourselves. smh
