Even without kids it's a struggle since I moved to the big city and spend an hour each way commuting. I don't mind so much so nice the actual work is much more rewarding.
-
orijin20208yI barely get enough quality time with my kid with a full time job and commute.
I have a ton of personal projects I wish to realize but I guess they'll never see the light of day.
I admire anyone who can cope with this next to the family and a full time job. -
I tend to get a lot of side work done WHEN I'm sitting on the couch watching Netflix :)
Even if you can only get in an hour every couple days (and to an impatient person like me that sounds unappealing) but eventually you've ended up putting 20+ hours into it without even realizing. -
My daughter goes to bed at 8pm which gives me a few hours each evening to work on projects.
-
@spongessuck I would kill for 5 hours :P it is 4am and I'm still trying to get my daughter to go to bed. I Have to get up at 6:30.. and that has been my sleeping pattern for the past few months

fyroc58608yI work from home and I still struggle. Goals help, no matter how small they are. "I will fix this small issue today"

fyroc58608y@gmakkinga I gave you your first ++. Remember that I am the one who stole your innocents.

@fyroc what a great way to end a day! She is finally asleep and I earned my first ++!

I'm a developer, but also a father of 2 kids. I love spending time with them, but sometimes I also like to work on my side projects. And besides that, after a long day of work, even if I have spare time, I also like to lay down on the couch and watch Netflix.
How do you other full time developer / parents out there cope with your own personal projects?
