I think I'm getting let go. Got an email saying to stop all the work on a project I was working on and to come in for a meeting with my manager tomorrow.

Fuck.

Do u think they r gonna fire u?

@mojo2012 I don't know why would they do that, but the email was worded such that I think that's what's happening. There's always a chance that I'm just being reassigned to a different project as none of my accounts have been blocked, but surely the email wouldn't be so vague about what's the meeting about then?

@kweakzs weird. How‘s the project going for u so far?

@mojo2012 the project has been a mismanaged disaster as PM has been changing requirements every other week. There's a rumor going around that the project has been extremely unprofitable for the company. However, I haven't missed any deadlines recently and always performed all my duties.

I don't know what to think. Maybe what's happening is a good thing as I feel like I'm on a verge of burnout for a while having to constantly fight with the PM about how some things they want are illogical.

Shit happens. Roll with the punches.

@kweakzs Sounds likely that they are going to dump the project and possibly reallocate you if you're doing alright. Unless they blame you for the project's issues.

I don't know where you're from but in many EU countries, you can't get fired instantly/without reason.

Don't forget to update us on the situation, please.

If you're feeling burnout, then it won't be that bad if they are thinking about letting you go. It just means new challenges.

    And also, please update us

Go to the offices at about 3am and torch the place, just in case.

@DLMousey better sorry than safe :-)

If they aren't firing you, then I'd probably consider how bad I want to work there after such a vauge email.

@helloworld good thinking. "Fire" them before they fire you. I like it.
  • 3
@helloworld I think torching the manager would be enough.

    I hope for the best

    Best of luck! And 📌

I asked my manager so many times “Are you firing me?” that he stopped sending those vague emails. Good luck! 🍀

I hope they don't fire you. Will you at least get severance ?

Short update. This is getting fucking ridiculous the guy called in sick today so no meeting. Still doesn't answer any questions I send him. Like seriously what the fuck. At least I'm getting paid for watching Youtube all day long.

@kweakzs I would search for jobs in that free time.

@KAS89 Oh I'm doing that too, thanks

@KAS89 It's always easier to get a new job while you have one than when you're unemployed.

    The final update:

I was just moved to another project as manager saw a conflict rising between me and the PM. Apparently it was really obvious that we hated each other. I also got an apology for the vagueness. It had happened because I was stuck in a limbo where they didn't know what to put me working on.

Thanks for all the support ranters!

Wow you kept us hanging. I was actually thinking about this during the weekend. But good that nothing bad happened. I would still search and go to a new job if I find a good one. Good luck
