    That's about £35 a month, I pay 32 for symmetric 150mbps and that's still tons faster than most people's connections in the UK :')

    Guess where I live 😏

    @DLMousey Actually it's almost exactly £25. But yeah, 100/100 is fast enough for most people.

    120€ for 1GBit/s DOWN and 500Mbit/s UP (this is one of the first fiber connections in Germany)
  • 2
    @olback it would be but most people end up on 50/2 side of things :P

    $34US. I accept!

    Swedish master race reporting in (that doesn't sound quite right, does it?)

    Tfw your connection is faster than your SSD's write speed.
  • 3
    @finiteAutomaton also, most probably your network infrastructure couldn't keep up with the speed.
  • 1
    Also what kind of of servers can you get with a 10gbit connection?
  • 0
    @DLMousey after 6 months 500 kr
  • 3
    I have to pay the same to have 22mbit down- and 3,4mbit upload... German villages. Places where the "neuland" is not even visible at the horizon.. Danke Merkel!1!11!!!

    @jfdev I've gbit up and down (realistically 800mbit) for €365 a year
  • 2
    I have that. Not 10gbit but 1. Otherwise I'd have to upgrade my router. 50$ a month and 10$ more for 10gbit.
  • 1
    It should be 50Mbps and it usually is. We pay about 25 dollars.
  • 1
    What do you need that bandwidth for? Do you run a server or do you interact with huge data through servers on daily basis? Was your local infrastructure built for dealing that bandwidth? I wonder...

    @electrineer even that's not bad price wise, throwing that into Google gives me £42/mth, Is there any catch like super limited availability or regular price hikes?

    @borderless ur not alone, I‘m living in a small village north of vienna, 2mbit dsl (unstable). But at least I got 30mbit lte ...

    @Gaveuxifort He's probably hosting some major dark web site :P

    Great.
    My SO and I are currently upgrading from 16MBit to 50MBit. More isn't possible where we live.
    Hail to Germany, high tech paradise. 😭

    @borderless Merkel isn't responsible. She's even lobbying for better infrastructure for years now.
    A couple of weeks ago there was an interview with the CEO of Vodafone Germany. Much telling. It will get better, but part of the responsibility lies in the aftermath of the idiotic UMTS licensing auction. 50 BILLION Euro drained, that then could not be spent on infrastructure.
    And that auction was in 2000 under Schröder.

    @Gaveuxifort I mainly use it to load any YouTube video really fast.

    @alvarlagerlof

    20mbps does the magic already even in 4K resolution
  • 2
    @Yamakuzure you are right. I dont really accuse merkel. It was sarcasm. Dont you know the "Danke merkel!!!11!!" memes? :D

    @Gaveuxifort Downloading isos then. Really only switched because Bahnhof offered 10x the speed for the same price.

    @borderless now I know them. 😉
