Ah, culture fit. It's funny that what highly determines you getting the job is how well you get along with the team in the warm-up phase (meeting the team). If in a casual conversation with the guys you already clash personalities, they will find a way to push you out.

I realized that now...

It's a _lot_ easier to work with someone that's less skilled, but whom you can easily get along with, than a very skilled person that makes you want to gouge out their fucking eyes everytime they open their mouth to say some stupid provocatory shit and then plays the victim when others start calling out their insufferable bullshit attitude. Nathan.

But Nathan is not real he cannot hurt you; made-up person to illustrate the point, making it more and more personal as the description progresses. Uuh rhetoric or something.

Seriously, it's a _lot_ easier to get shit done when you don't want to fucking murder your own teammates. So there's that, y'know juss sayeeeen.

I don't wanna murder my own teammates but I want them to stop trying to murder me because it's annoying

    My company is culture fat.

Let's say that the guys at the company are Apple fanboys and you're an oldschool techie. - misalignment 1

Let's then say that you care about code quality and the guys at the company are the quick-and-dirty types. - misalignment 2

Finally, let's say that you are an honest person and they only care about what latest BMW they bought and insult their wives behind their back. - misalignment 3

Smells like a very Nathan company to me, maybe you dodged a bullet.

maybe you can get around culture misalignments with humour but I am not that charming

would be nice to learn though, to have the option if one wants

@jestdotty It is quite energy-consuming. It's like is said on YouTube: "We come home exhausted from pretending all day".

@CaptainRant oh. no humour is energizing to me

I think humour actually is like a spiritual "no" to something someone else does and you don't want to expend energy on. your mind goes there but laughs the energy out before it spends it. and then you can just recycle it for something else
