asgs112756yYeah, stay away from such companies. You are better off converting your skills and learnability into deliverables elsewhere

@Alice Thanks for your input! Yeah, I hadn't seen that way. 🤔 I was thinking that depending on the library getting up to speed wouldn't take too long anyways, but I understand what you mean and agree. Although I would prefer if that wasn't the case haha

@asgs I liked the company because it was remote and the culture seemed nice. Although, I didn't quite like that they used an online editor so they could see what I was working on at any time and how I was doing it.

@Alice Yeah, it was the second case. I think I got frustrated because I really wanted a remote job and the CEO had already told me they wanted to work with me.
That experienced led me to learn more about UI toolkits though! :D I can't live without them now for a lot of stuff -
asgs112756y@meseguer1998 it doesn't matter what the company is like. All that matters is whether you'll get to code in a way that makes you happy and learn something you could apply outside of that job. Do X using Y is pure BS and I'd hate to be in such situations.
using a collab editor is quite common and I personally like it when evaluating somebody's thought process. Checking if the candidate knows the syntax is stupidity and ridiculous -
musician6656y@Alice i disagree. If you know the language well enough learning the ui library is a piece of cake and can be learned while learning the codebase.
Libraries come and go. You dont want people that only know how to code using the exact libraries the company uses atm. Of course if the company uses vue its reasonable to expect vue knowledge but beyond that its pretty dumb -
Well if you were looking at the docs, I would have hired you, because it shows you are willing to find the answer even if you don’t already know it.

Don't you have when a job offer expects people to know certain specific libraries?
And I'm not talking about frameworks or something essential for a certain field (Like Web3js for blockchain).
I once lost a job opportunity because I didn't have experience working with a specific UI toolkit for Vue so I took longer doing certain things because I needed to check the docs...
I mean, I understand companies want people with experience but I feel it's stupid to expect us to know every single library for every use case imaginable from the beginning. Most of the time, it's stuff we can learn very quickly
