@kamen I've been considering a Razer Blackwidow Lite for work (I really like my Blackwidow Chroma X at home), but it's just too damn loud for an office with other people.
My colleagues don't want to work in a 1920s typewriter pit. -
kamen69255y@kwilliams A mechanical keyboard does not necessarily have to be loud - it mainly depends on the switch type. Some switches are intentionally made to produce sound as audible feedback (e.g. Cherry MX Blue and Green) and these are indeed what you wouldn't want in an office; there are other switches that are similar in feel, but do not produce sound intentionally (Cherry MX Brown), and yet others that are intentionally dampened (Cherry MX Silent Red) and a keyboard with these might be even quieter than your current one. Mechanical switches are basically categorised by their sound (clicky/silent) and feel (tactile/linear).
Some of the ones I mentioned by category:
MX Blue: clicky + tactile
MX Brown: quiet + tactile
MX Black: quiet + linear
MX Red: quiet + linear
MX Silent Red: silent + linear
Cherry is just one of the most popular switch manufacturers, but there's also Gateron, Kailh and some others that have equivalent offerings. -
kamen69255y@kwilliams Also, you know, there are other brands besides Razer (and I think Razer are leaning towards being overpriced). For the same price you'd pay for a Razer keyboard, you can get a full aluminium body keyboard from a lesser known manufacturer.
