Yes.

In all seriousness, I don't have a favorite because I don't bother learning about them.

Fight me.

I hope you enjoy learning dev-related-things the hard, depressing, and inefficient way.

@irene ever met a good developer that didn't know shit about the history or beginning of the tools he/she uses? I haven't.

Why do you want us to fight you? Don't you have anything better to do?

@irene if you don't want to learn from "the best" in your profession you are doomed to repeat many *painful* errors you could have avoided, hence the 'hard' way

@irene true, but they usually go together the deeper your learning process is

@irene true but you can also know more about the thought process, and 'the path to the solution' by understanding who is the person behind the idea.

@irene same goes about understanding anything at all..

I don't know a lot about famous programmers because I don't care about people, I care about machines

@12bitfloat with all due respect, i doubt that

@bioDan I know a few names and a few things about them but that's pretty much it. Believe it or not some people just aren't that interested in other people
  • 1
@irene what do you mean eh? Its plain English man....
  • 1
@12bitfloat i believe you dont care much, i just don't believe you do don't care at all
  • 1
@bioDan True but I don't care enough to read up on them or remember much of it

@bioDan I agree that it is useful to understand the problems a certain technology was meant to solve before learning it. But I don’t see why learning about Musk would make you a better driver of Tesla cars.

@HughRant it may be indifferent to you as a Tesla driver, but as a Tesla mechanic/engineer it would be a different story

@irene im not really sure he doesn't. According to him he does take place in the engineering architecture process but he does have a team of very skilled engineers who do most of the hard-lifting.

Still, it was just an example, and I'm sure you dont know the amount of his involvement as well.

@irene how can you be so sure that's the only thing he does?
  • 0
@irene as a public figure, those are just vague assumptions 😝

@irene He sleeps in his office, I don't think he could do more work if he tried lol
