because brain and coffee are the only 2 words that can fit in 1 sentence, when it comes to developers
-
@vortex lol I only drink iced coffee anyway 😉 the ice is just occluded by the brain chunks
-
@humanbonsai Are you a zombie ? Or just one of those with the logic that eating/drinking brain will enrich your own ?
-
Omg you should totally buy one of those flasks people use in chemistry labs and drink it out of that!
https://amazon.com/PYREX-Narrow-Mou... -
@humanbonsai That's probably thr reason why the lesbian movies are the highest selling form of porn!
-
@sunvary Stupidity? how do you figure that is? the statement made was factual so that part of it is surely not stupid, and just because the reply is not to your liking or fit withing your views of the world as you know it does not make it "stupid". Here is an idea for you, instead of bashing what you don't understand try embracing other views on life for once, who knows it might even broaden your horizons!
-
@codeRetard Truly, you don't seem to understand the creep factor.
You're out to dinner with your buddy and his visiting family. His parents say, "wow, what a delicious restaurant! Good pick, son. We're benefiting from the fact you have explored so many local restaurants."
You follow this up with," yeah, Bill loves eating out. Why do you think he never has a gap between girlfriends?"
A funny pun? Yes. But there's a time, and a place. Dinner with your friend and his family is not the time. Semi-personal remarks in an online space like this are not the time or place. It's the fact that you looked at the actions of real people, and decided, "hey, I'm going to let them know how these actions make me think of porn." That's the bit about this which is wrong. -
@codeRetard Most women in tech spend A LOT of time making sure they are viewed as professionals. Like, I have wondered if my drinking cup with a built-in straw is inappropriate, because it can lead to "sucking" puns. Fortunately, I work with stand up fellows (we are agile, after all) who would never say something like, "gosh Christine, you sure do drink a lot of water. You must be eager to suck on something, hur dur."
Saying things that make others feel like they must censor their utterly reasonable actions, is wrong, and the sort of thing anyone who has experienced a grade school bully should know. -
@sunvary
If anyone is offended by the factual statistics they have way more to worry about than my views!
You are not trying to fight me and you call me stupid for my views just like that!!? Look up the meaning of picking a fight.
Oh and I am as calm as can be, it takes way more than such replies to piss me off, but I don't think the same could be said about you! -
@sunvary I am so offended!!? honestly how do you figure that? I gave a reply to your input into my previous answer and I am all of a sudden offended!!? so what that means I have to keep quiet to be not offended!!!? ha ha!
-
@Christine @sunvary wish I could DM you both, but I'll say it here. Thank you for this. Thank you for taking up this conversation that I honestly did not have the mental and emotional energy at the time to pursue
I woke up this morning to a series of comments of women coming to the aid of women and it made me love this community even more!
When people say something makes them uncomfortable, you don't tell them it shouldn't make them uncomfortable. You stop doing it, even if you don't understand why, because you don't know the other person's point of view and experience. That's my 2 cents -
@humanbonsai As I mentioned earlier, this was never meant to be a sexist reply to begin with and you ladies are taking this way out of proportion which in turn speaks volumes about the amount of pent up anger you have towards other people's remarks.
FYI, unpopular speech which will in turn make "people uncomfortable" has forever been the start of new steps taken in almost every advancements made. There are people living in parts of the word under totalitarian regimes which are silenced because of the same mentality of "stop doing what makes us uncomfortable" I love my freedom of speech and I will practice it regardless of hurt feelings or otherwise.
I also like to add that there is a huge difference between being hurt and looking for reasons to say that you were hurt.
Once more, this was never a case of men vs. women nor a gender war. Learn to take the words for what they are and not what you insinuate! -
xroad23188y@codeRetard offending people and fighting for freedom of speech is great if you're trying to fight the man and start a revolution.
Using it to make (bad) lesbian jokes makes you sound like a dick. -
@xroad I am sure it will also make you sound and look like a dick in the eyes of the man you are fighting for freedom as well!
Once an idea works in a place, it can just as well work in other instances the same attitude has been practised regardless of the gender of the person or the context!
Much the same way being told that I should be censoring myself myself in stating facts is a double standard don't you think?
And by the way, it was not a joke! -
@codeRetard freedom of speech is a myth, you are always bound to terms and conditions, granted, afaik you have not broke them, the terms are still there..
The only thing i have to say about all this is, if I would have posted that, and someone would have been offended, i would have started with an apology, not a counter offence. That shows either immaturity or as @xroad said, it makes you look like a dick -
@DarkMukke Freedom of speech is a myth!? well maybe for you but not from where I come from. And no I have not broken any of the terms and conditions
I would only apologise if I am in the wrong and in this case I don't happen to believe that I was wrong, hence the counter offence as you put it. -
Holy shit @xroad complimented a group of women and all of a sudden he thinks he is the defender of the honour of the opposite sex!
-
@codeRetard you offended someone, that is wrong, whenever the statement itself was wrong or not
and freedom of speech does not exist, its a unicorn, there will always be laws that someone can enforce on you, except maybe int he dark net, but that in itself might be illegal in the country you live in.. -
xroad23188y@codeRetard lol oh boy. Son you're in for a rude awakening when you finally go out into the real world. @DarkMukke is correct. There is no such thing as true freedom of speech. Maybe if you're a white man in the US you'll probably have to say something REALLY stupid to see the consequence but change the gender, race or religious affiliation and you're bound by a completely different set of rules.
-
xroad23188y@codeRetard I didn't defend or compliment the opposite sex. I just called you out for being an insensitive dick. This one time, it really is all about you.
Also, don't bother trying to make me feel bad by getting personal. Turns out I'm not 15 anymore. -
@DarkMukke
Might be a unicorn in the world full of laws and restrictions, but as a concept it is still a very real thing! and if that is not the case you are also wrong in voicing your opinion about mine, because hey its a unicorn right!?
@xroad
I'm not your son dude. And the real world as opposed to the cave I am living in right now? And I am not a white man in the US so don't threaten me of the consequences of my ideas!
You also have a funny way of calling people out if "you go girls" is the way you do it.
On that note if voicing my opinion on an open forum makes me an insensitive dick, then what does that make you? a sensitive one? -
@codeRetard the difference is that i know and accept i might be wrong, and if i ever get punished for that, then that will be the end of that. I might believe differently and might rant about it somewhere (eg devRantRant)
Point is, if there was freedom of speech, and i had to use, a piece of code that was proprietary to prove my point to you, then i would be breaking the terms of conditions. Freedom of speech would let me do that without consequences, however because of the terms and conditions i have signed by using devRant, that is not the case.
You fail to see I am not offended by your comment about lesbian porn but you did offend people and you have still not apologised.
I should even tell you that a thought of sexual nature did come up, in the tread right before your offending comment, but that doesn't mean I want to share that thought. -
@DarkMukke Freedom of speech is first and foremost a concept and then a protected law. If you say things can say only where the laws allow you to, you are not practising your right to it at all.
I see the point you are trying to make, but I did not use any proprietary code to get my point across, I used simple words and in doing so I remained withing the terms and condition of this wonderful place.
The irony is despite me saying that was not a joke and a factual statement so many people took it the wrong way which speaks volumes about their insecurities and biases.
Sadly this new phenomenon of "interrogating a new ideas that doesn't conform to your prejudices" because they are problematic and give rise to emotional trauma is a product of the recent PC culture which is taking over the world. Last time I checked there were no safe spaces allocated here on devRant!
To wrap up, my original statement was not a witty remark, it was factual and if you are hurt: http://bit.ly/1M2B185 -
xroad23188yDamn, Che still at it? Give it a rest. No one cares about how you think your lesbian jokes are making the world a better place
-
@xroad still working on your calling out skills I see, ha ha. keep at it you might eventually get the hang of how its actually done down the road!
-
@codeRetard I never said you broke the terms and conditions, but the fact that there are terms and conditions means there is no freedom of speech.
I'm not arguing about the fact, and you are completely right, in ~90% of what said, but it's not because you are right, that you are a nice person, hence being called a dick. -
xroad23188y@codeRetard what road? I thought you didn't have any roads. Because capitalism.
Viva La Revolución!!! -
@DarkMukke The funny thing here is that here I am supposedly in the wrong, according to you guys, and yet I have not taken a single shot at either one of you. Whereas I have been called stupid, outrageous, a dick, threatened and somehow cheaply called out by @xroad while he tried really hard to show his mental maturity by resolving to name calling like a 5 year old! So much maturity for a bunch of self-righteous people!
-
@xroad Your logic is massively impaired dude! you don't even carry on a coherent line of thought do you? Let's just play your childish condescending game and say I am indeed Che and we have no roads, you are the capitalist politically correct dude here and I am talking to you, who have roads! get it? ha ha ha.
-
@xroad see!? admitting to something you don't get is not that difficult! And thank you for confirming what I have been saying all along! lolz
