haabe14068y@bitFlipper many keyboard layouts in different languages got ; as the secondary character. So the shift key gets used a lot anyway.
-
poqudrof118yTry out Ruby, you can use! And no semicolon is mandatory. I use jruby, and I feel some magic when I use object.become_java!
-
pr0t0n6078yBecause that's rude! 😬😬 jk
Because semi colon indicates end of sentence; get it?
I think it's an attempt to keep it grammatically sound! -
@ScribeOfGoD you can just go to the next line though, why do we need a character to end the line? Many languages don't have it
-
@VacGamer and those languages are different. Css aren't those languages. Same with php
-
@willol that's like asking, "why use a period to end a sentence? Why not have a run on sentence instead?"
-
willol13898y@juneiss5037 well not really, a language could use line breaks instead of semicolon (would be sucky now that I think about it, can break an instruction into several lines)
-
@willol oh, I was referencing the written English language earlier. Sorry for the confusion.
