Is is just me or devRant is filled with mostly backend and full stack developers.

Where are the front end developer’s?.

if you are a full stack developer then by extension you ARE a frontend developer as well my dude

FE dev or a ui designer? They're different things.

Dev rant isn't low effort, if you're not interested in CS-ey things, sticking around is unlikely. Most FE-focused devs I've encountered prefer the shallow end of the pool, being job hoppers or designers by trade.

Devrant has a strong bias towards engineers. It's like blind without the silicon valley bias.

(I suppose I fit in as a backend guy technically, but then what about embedded and specialty circles like ML and sensorics and avionics and robotics and all that)

@iamai lots of kebabs are halal. If the meat is slaughtered in islamic tradidtion, then its halal. Ive eaten a ton of kebabs and trust me, there good.

Depends on the country? If you are in Malaysia and UAE then halal is normal. But in other countries it would pretty hard to find halal meat. Halal restaurants are scarce. Best recourse is you buy your own chicken/cow/lamb - kill in one strike, let the blood out and say a prayer.

@NoMad Any survey with an "other" choice won't do well. That's also why you don't put an odd number of choices because many if not most will pick the middle one.

@iamai Most countries I've been to have specific cultural shops that do sell hallal meat. They usually keep low profile, since there's always controversy because Islamic killing is basically animal torture.

@iamai if there is no form of halal food around, we normaly eat vegetarian food. but if thats not around we eat kosher. In worst case scenarios, we will have to eat haram(forbidden) food if there is no halal/kosher food. We can’t make an exception for pork because no matter what situation you are in, you can’t eat pork. If we eat haram food by accident or there were no food around, we just pray to allah for forgiveness and he’ll forgive us. After all, allah is “al ghafur” the forgiving.

@NoMad.Halal slaughtering is not animal cruelty. God's name must be invoked in a one-line blessing called the Tasmiyah, said before any slaughter. British Halal Food Authority slaughtermen use the most common version, “Bismillahi-Allahu Akbar” (In the name of Allah the greatest).

Reciting a short blessing beginning with “bismillah” (in the name of Allah) is a prerequisite for Muslims before embarking on any significant task. Orthodox Jews recite similar everyday blessings, including a prayer used before performing kosher slaughter.

The Islamic method of killing an animal for meat is called zabiha. After reciting the blessing, the slaughterman uses a surgically sharp instrument to cut the animal's throat, windpipe and the blood vessels around its neck. The blood is then allowed to drain from the body.

Only one animal can be ritually slaughtered at a time and the other animals must not witness any death.

@NoMad The religious law also says how the animal must be treated during its life, with the animal not allowed to have been mistreated or caused any pain. It must also be provided with enough space to roam, clean water, food and fresh air.

@iamai the only non alcoholic beer I know is root beer. While root beer is halal, others may not be considering that lots of companies lie.

Do you consider Node frontend or backend?

I consider it frontend because the jobs I had as frontend dev I had to know it but it’s serverside JS. It would confuse the back end devs everything they tried to set up the client side dev build.

This does not make me full-stack in anyway.

@katbreitin i consider it both considering it runs on the javascript engine and it is server side. I think of it like next.js. That is considerd middle end to becuase its a frameworkd of react.js and its a serverside language.in simpler form, I can say that you can use it for front end development but you can also use it for back end development.
