Is is just me or devRant is filled with mostly backend and full stack developers.

Where are the front end developer’s?.

    if you are a full stack developer then by extension you ARE a frontend developer as well my dude
  • 4
    FE dev or a ui designer? They're different things.
  • 12
    Embedded devs rise up
  • 0
    @AleCx04 I know but the full stack developers on devRant are like full stack backend developers.
  • 14
    Bullied away
  • 4
    @alexbrooklyn I guess I survived!.
  • 10
    "They are mostly quality devs, so the front end ones naturally disappeared."
  • 7
    @Jilano We front end devs have quality. We make responsive webpages and animations so we have skills.
  • 8
    @FrontEndLove "It seems like you're trying to convince yourself, mate"
  • 3
    @Jilano not really, check out my github tommorow. I am working on these really cool projects.
  • 2
    @FrontEndLove I think it's just you. Why don't you post a poll to make sure?
  • 0
    @JhonDoe bet. We’ll see who wins front end or backend.
  • 4
    @FrontEndLove huh what? wait! no bets, it's against my religion's rules
  • 3
    @JhonDoe I know. Im a muslim and betting is forbidden. It was a joke though. Theres no betting. Just a poll
  • 2
  • 1
    Because those are the only three types
  • 0
    @electrineer oh. I put more in the poll
  • 4
    @electrineer what do you even do? 🤔
  • 10
    @NoMad the hell do I know
  • 12
    Dev rant isn't low effort, if you're not interested in CS-ey things, sticking around is unlikely. Most FE-focused devs I've encountered prefer the shallow end of the pool, being job hoppers or designers by trade.

    Devrant has a strong bias towards engineers. It's like blind without the silicon valley bias.

    @FrontEndLove

    Just voted as a front end dev as well I am curious as well.

    Also wondering what language the majority if the backend devs do.
  • 5
    "Frontend, Backend, Fullstack, Devops, Sysadmin"
    So... I'm not welcome here as a systems/FPGA guy.
    Right.

    Might want to mention you're only talking about web devs.

    (I suppose I fit in as a backend guy technically, but then what about embedded and specialty circles like ML and sensorics and avionics and robotics and all that)
  • 0
    @katbreitin for all I know, most backend devs use php or python.
  • 0
    @RememberMe i really dont knwo about embedded. I guess backend would be the option.
  • 5
    @FrontEndLove as someone who is a jack of all trades and now is doing ML engineering basically, am offended for not being included. 😛
  • 0
    @FrontEndLove I think you may want to put the link in another rant and describe in that rant what the heck is all about
  • 1
    @NoMad sorry bro. I didnt know what you do really.
  • 0
    @JhonDoe yea. When my rant time limit is done, I will post the poll on it.
  • 1
    @FrontEndLove just add one "other" option maybe. Easiest option out.
  • 1
    @NoMad sure why not.
  • 1
    @NoMad, bad news I cant now man. so sorry,
  • 0
    @FrontEndLove well, what about creating the rant as "random" or "question"?
  • 1
    @JhonDoe probably both.
  • 3
    Frontend
    backend
    fullstack

    Why am I giggling? 😹
  • 1
    @iamai dont worry theres more.
  • 0
    @iamai I also read your bio, do you use ABAP?.
  • 0
    @FrontEndLove yup 😀 depending I guess on perspective or requirements we deal with front or back.
  • 6
    @iamai I only use KEBAP
  • 7
    @electrineer
    DONER is the best KEBAP framework.
  • 4
    @electrineer I love Kebabs
  • 1
    @iamai thats nice. I heard abap is nice.
  • 0
    @SortOfTested I love shwarma. We pakistani’s eat shwarma and biryani alot
  • 7
    If you're getting food and not taking me with, I hope y'all choke on it! And get fat!
  • 1
    @NoMad haha. Only if the food is halal, then im coming
  • 4
    @NoMad
    Will trade food for immigration 😋
  • 4
    Didn't feel like reading the whole discussion...fast scroll...people are talking about kebabs...the fuk...i just like the way devrant comments go wild in like 10 messages...also haven't had a kebab in months...kinda want one now
  • 2
    @FrontEndLove even better. More for me! 😋
  • 1
    @Sandel3008 first we were talking about programming, now we’re talking about kebabs. BTW, do people here like seekh kababs. Its a pakistani classic.
  • 6
    @FrontEndLove Kebabs are better. This thread is making me hungry 🤤

    @electrineer one for you 🍢
    One for me
    @SortOfTested one for you 🍢
    Two for me
    @NoMad two for you 🍢
    Three for me

    @FrontEndLove 🍨 ice cream for you, kebab is not halal.

    *buuuuurp*
  • 1
    @iamai lots of kebabs are halal. If the meat is slaughtered in islamic tradidtion, then its halal. Ive eaten a ton of kebabs and trust me, there good.
  • 4
    @FrontEndLove stop educating and eat your ice cream
  • 2
    @electrineer oki, besides I love ice cream
  • 1
    @FrontEndLove I think I've tried them also. Might remember better if they look as badass as the picture.

    Actually shawarma is more accessible to order. And cheap too.

    Depends on the country? If you are in Malaysia and UAE then halal is normal. But in other countries it would pretty hard to find halal meat. Halal restaurants are scarce. Best recourse is you buy your own chicken/cow/lamb - kill in one strike, let the blood out and say a prayer.
  • 4
    @electrineer Aren't you that barista guy? Or was it stripper...

    @RememberMe I mean, we tried to tell you multiple times we didn't want you here, but you sticked around so... Can't help you much

    @NoMad Any survey with an "other" choice won't do well. That's also why you don't put an odd number of choices because many if not most will pick the middle one.
  • 1
    @iamai Most countries I've been to have specific cultural shops that do sell hallal meat. They usually keep low profile, since there's always controversy because Islamic killing is basically animal torture.
  • 1
    @NoMad I thought the intent was to not let the animal suffer and kill swiftly similar to Kosher for Jews.

    @FrontEndLove just curious, would kosher be a possible substitute for you if there is no Halal meat?
  • 1
    @iamai if there is no form of halal food around, we normaly eat vegetarian food. but if thats not around we eat kosher. In worst case scenarios, we will have to eat haram(forbidden) food if there is no halal/kosher food. We can’t make an exception for pork because no matter what situation you are in, you can’t eat pork. If we eat haram food by accident or there were no food around, we just pray to allah for forgiveness and he’ll forgive us. After all, allah is “al ghafur” the forgiving.

    @NoMad.Halal slaughtering is not animal cruelty. God's name must be invoked in a one-line blessing called the Tasmiyah, said before any slaughter. British Halal Food Authority slaughtermen use the most common version, “Bismillahi-Allahu Akbar” (In the name of Allah the greatest).

    Reciting a short blessing beginning with “bismillah” (in the name of Allah) is a prerequisite for Muslims before embarking on any significant task. Orthodox Jews recite similar everyday blessings, including a prayer used before performing kosher slaughter.

    The Islamic method of killing an animal for meat is called zabiha. After reciting the blessing, the slaughterman uses a surgically sharp instrument to cut the animal's throat, windpipe and the blood vessels around its neck. The blood is then allowed to drain from the body.

    Only one animal can be ritually slaughtered at a time and the other animals must not witness any death.
  • 0
    @NoMad The religious law also says how the animal must be treated during its life, with the animal not allowed to have been mistreated or caused any pain. It must also be provided with enough space to roam, clean water, food and fresh air.

    @FrontEndLove how about non-alcoholic beer? Halal or Haram?
  • 1
    @iamai the only non alcoholic beer I know is root beer. While root beer is halal, others may not be considering that lots of companies lie.
  • 2
    @FrontEndLove It will be interesting to see how many of the full
    stack devs are most FE devs like me.
  • 0
    @FrontEndLove no need to school me on that. I have been around different types of islamic and semi-islamic cultures to know the difference. It is animal cruelty when you make the animal bleed out to die. I've had this discussion many times, so not gonna discuss it any further.
  • 0
    @NoMad its not even animal cruelty bro even jews do that so don’t get me started.Im a muslim bro so i no how its like, my grandpa was a butcher and he did it, he even showed me how its like. Brother, I don’t want to be mad at you, you may not knwo these stuuf that muslims do but don’t worry, we can fix that.Here’s a link to help you understand it more brother.

    PS. I really don’t want a religious debate on devrant, this a place about programming not religion.

    @FrontEndLove

    Do you consider Node frontend or backend?

    I consider it frontend because the jobs I had as frontend dev I had to know it but it’s serverside JS. It would confuse the back end devs everything they tried to set up the client side dev build.

    This does not make me full-stack in anyway.
  • 0
    @katbreitin i consider it both considering it runs on the javascript engine and it is server side. I think of it like next.js. That is considerd middle end to becuase its a frameworkd of react.js and its a serverside language.in simpler form, I can say that you can use it for front end development but you can also use it for back end development.

    Here, quiet in the back only sometimes talking crap
  • 2
    I’m done reading all comments, I will leave now, I’m scared

    When youve done everything, and continue to do everything, and have the job title: "gui developer" how do you classify yourself?

    I do lots of gui work, but am now writing industrial servers and clients for automation.

    WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!
  • 3
    That awkward moment you're late to the party and miss the DONOR KEBAB train! You guys suck!
