How do we deal with narcissistic, antisocial behavior on this platform?

    Report option on profile.

    and downvote

    Seems to me like we kinda don't. No real repercussions anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

    @rutee07 only effective if the entire community agrees to do so and it doesn't seem like that's the case.
  • 6
    @rutee07 that's what I was hoping you'd say! 😍
  • 2
    Y'all, this gonna be a group effort tho. Like, how many reports are required for them to get banned?
  • 7
    You guys taking about me again 😥
  • 3
    @C0D4 oh you wish you were that big of a troll! 😜 You need to talk out of your ass a lot more, for us to put effort into removing you.
  • 2
    @NoMad and now you tell me, guess I can't hold every trophy 😏

    @F1973 Okay but that pigman is the creature of my nightmares.
  • 1
    @F1973 is it edible?
  • 0
    @F1973 either of them. Or the pig-man-something..?

    @F1973 that's where you're wrong.
    He actually means harm, he just doesn't want to get his hands dirty. Which is why he plays with other people's minds.
    But he's just not smart enough to make his arguments sound less annoying and more appealing. Otherwise, we'd have Hitler 2.0 on our hands.

    @rutee07 Okay but you better clean your tools this time! It's a pain in the arse to remove all the stains...

    @C0D4 You're too old to be considered a threat :D
  • 1
    @Nanos that reminded me, @rutee07 (sorry to bring this potentially painful part up, but) how has ignoring those stalker relatives worked for you so far?

    I don't think we should do much. Freedom of speech and all that

    Just downvote and ignore, maybe leave a mean comment while you're at it

    Hi Dears,

    I don't think they're going anywhere.

    Those people will continue existing no matter what is done, because of societal pressures, biology, and various traumas people go through in life, which is not always necessarily in their control.

    Just deal with it, and learn co-existance.

    Those people can very well bring something constructive to society, even if you don't readily enjoy their personality. Which you might end up respecting if you try to understand where they come from. But most people are too busy to do that.

    For example me I dislike killjoys. But I know they'll continue to exist, due to the 3 reasons I outlined earler. So I just let them be, and I continue being myself and surround myself with people I enjoy being with. Knowing that killjoys in other circumstances in the world might be needed. Co-existance.

    Co-existance I find is the key. Let them be, and continue doing your own thing.

    Hope it helps!

    Cheers!

    @12bitfloat yeah but freedom of "speech" doesn't mean we all have to listen to bullshit.

    Counter argument: the reporting and banning features are a self-cleaning method to get rid of the extreme outliers. We can't say they don't have the right to exist, but the society can reject them. It's not against just "unpopular opinion" rather immoral behavior.
  • 2
    @NoMad True but I'm just generally not a fan of banning anything

    I guess a block feature would be a good compromise. So each user can decide for themselves who they want to see or not

    @12bitfloat I think every community/society should be able to define how flexible they are to opposing ideas. And where do they draw the line. That's an unconscious group decision. It's not always about mortality but very often is, even if not directly. Do we allow a troll bully run free in our community even if we're not victims? Do we allow a sociopath just make false claims and sell them as truth? This seems to be the modern societal dilemma.

    @NoMad I agree some filtering has to be made though, against propaganda of some sorts, and examples you mentioned.

    Lately I was joining some discord channels, and found they had pretty well thought out rules. Perhaps community manager here could look at those for inspiration.

    Many discord channels so far have been able to strike the right balance I think.

    @Wadih yeah but they also have additional security and measures we don't have here. Anything here is free for all on the internet. Even if you delete a rant, you can still find it in some Internet archive or Google backup of search stuff. Even reddit is struggling with this level of exposure.

    @Jilano you haven't been hit in the head with a walking stick I see 🤣

    A platform like this is actually made for narcissists. There would be no user score otherwise.
    Antisocial could mean anything though. For a narcissist, antisocial is whatever he defines it to be.

    That said:
    Just downvote the posts you think are offensive enough to do so.
    If you are right, other people are likely to downvote those too and they will disappear - and sometimes their authors will disappear with them.
    If you are wrong, people will abuse you in their posts while being cheered up by other people.
    Choose wisely.

    @C0D4 I don't think so, or at least I don't remember it...!

    Am I out of the loop. Who is this rant for?
