BIRD OWNERS. If you live near ANYWHERE with fireworks, few or many, just a friendly yearly reminder that the smoke from those fireworks will destroy your bird's respiratory system. KEEP YOUR WINDOWS CLOSED. Do not underestimate how dangerous that smoke is for them.

Also, do not burn your teflon pans! The smoke they release when overheated is toxic to birds. If you have any, replace them with ceramic nonstick instead so the next time you accidentally scorch a pan, little Polly won’t be your unfortunate canary.

Similar warning about plants: some plants are toxic to birds if they chew them; some are safe. Research before buying a houseplant, or keep them in separate areas.
