chappjc1578y@nblackburn The rant's a satire, so yeah, that's basically the point. But in reality, the tabs get closed... periodically. :)
-
chappjc1578yPlus I think it's a bit crazy that a typical tab needs 300 MB. I guess that's the Special Sauce that makes it super speedy. Or perhaps a rogue extension or 6.

hug33k1058yYou should try OneTab, a Chrome extension to "suspend" tabs without closing them. RAM-friendly 😉
-
chappjc1578y@hug33k That's a good one for sure. I settled on Session Buddy, but clearly I don't use it often enough... or maybe I use it just enough. :)

If my memory (pardon the pun) serves right, a new chrome release set for this year is supposed to include massive memory improvements
Edit - it was actually chrome 55 which was supposed to include the improvements which was released on December 6th 2016, see http://v8project.blogspot.ie/2016/... -
And that's why I have 32 GB of RAM now. I don't run out of RAM now and get to watch chrome freeze now and am forced to restart it since I open way to many tabs lol🤣

hug33k1058yErratum : The extension is The Great Suspender, not OneTab (But the last one is still a good one)
-
Koolstr27858y@hug33k The Great Suspender has proven to be immensely useful and memory conserving. Highly recommended. As for tab concatenation, I tried one tab but don't like it's ui and there's no real backup solution. I lost my whole collection when I had to reinstall. It's all local. Crazy.
Instead I use Tab Wrangler and I love it. I recommend trying it out instead of one tab. -
moort43078yOn firefox i have an addon called session manager, with one click you save all tabs in a session. Later on you can simply open it again

Dear Chrome,
I know it's ridiculous to have 50+ tabs open, but please - pretty please - just make it work for me. 300 MB/tab is starting to make Windows mad.
No, I will not close them. I might need that page I opened 4 months ago and was too lazy to bookmark.
