Why most of people are hating java? (in comment section)

Welcome to the Java side ☕☕☕

@tahnik X'D that is by far the most idiotic thing I've ever heard XD

"if you hate java you're probably a script kiddie" - tahnik 2017

    Platform independent is a myth

    It's called Stockholm syndrome 😋

@Nayan Because its less than it could have been, Java became a fairly solid language with the 1.5/5.0 release in 2004 and had its last interesting update with the 6.0 release in 2006

Java 7 (2011) and Java 8 (2014) were both ok updates but would have been far more relevant had they been released as a single update in 2008/2009

and now Java 9 is being delayed again (We might get it in July ...)

I wouldn't say i hate Java(It isn't a bad language), I'm just very very disappointed in how little it has improved in the last 10 years.

@ItsNotMyFault I think it has more to do with a large amount of enterprise companies depending on Java. When there's millions of dollars and people depending on a language, it's hard to introduce new features and updates that easily.

But yeah, they should be faster than this.

@Tychus But it's not idiotic to hate something blindly and considering someone dead because he has chosen a language that you do not prefer right?
  • 0
@tahnik it's not idiotic to hate things. it's not idiotic to give opinions. what's idiotic is assuming all people are idiots and hate something without reason.
  • 0
@Tychus I didn't say all of you are script kiddies.

And since when script kiddies are idiots? They just like scripting more than others and there's nothing wrong with it.
  • 1
@tahnik script kiddies aren't people who write scripts, they are "hackers" who use tools that other people wrote and they never write their own.
  • 0
@deusprogrammer it still doesn't make them idiots
  • 0
@tahnik nope. But it doesn't make them "developers" or "hackers" either.

@deusprogrammer yeah in my context (if you read my first comment) this is exactly what I meant

Welcome to the club! I've been here for long enough that I've branched out to taste other JVM languages. Give Groovy a try once you get comfortable; it'll save you ~1M keystrokes.

@Nayan I used mostly codecademy's free tutorials for getting the rules about OOP right and the documentation on developer.google.com and a hell of a lot of stackoverflow

@tahnik script kiddie in the beautiful world of Technology is an insult. it's used for people who know nothing about technology or how things work use other people's work and claim they are l337 haxors and shit. so yeah in my book that's the same thing as an idiot.

@Nayan when I'm done I could also give you the source code if you'd like (it's probably really bad tho)
