Mostly works fine, and no major performance degradation versus booting in Ubuntu

It sucks balls like before. A little less if you enable the Linux Beta Feature and type "bash" into it (press enter though).

@darksideplease I think he was referring to the bash on Ubuntu on Windows or whatever the full name of the Windows Linux subsystem is. And that works okay. I use it daily for development.

And if you don't like bash you can even run fish as your default shell

@curlmudgeon ahhh! Yeah i was recommending that. I usually go to a folder, shift+rightclick and then open in terminal, type bash, enter. grep and all its friends welcome me.

@darksideplease or you could do something like this: http://winaero.com/blog/...

That gets you "open Bash here" like you can do with Command

If i calculate how long this will take to get working versus me just doing bash+enter i think mine is more time saving.

@darksideplease not really. Took me about 3 minutes

Yeah, I was referring to the linux subsystem running on linux, I use rails a lot and was wondering how would that turn out, and what about using git gutter for sublime and stuff like that

I love and hate it simultaneously. Finaly a propper shell! (And since win10 you can have fullscreen on cmd too). <-- that was the good, now comes the ugly: after every fucking update it doesn't start! I have to disable it and reenable it, to work again. So fucking anoying (long story short: my dev laptop still runs on linux and I'm happy :))

@ffiebigc I run things like rails in bash but edit the code from Windows, no problem with git.

@pascalwacker that's odd. Im on the Fast Ring, so I get deluged with updates, bash always starts fine...
