    If you want customization you use Linux 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @ScriptCoded windows was in between... And well last time I checked most PC apps and games don't work on Linux?

    Without booting a windows vm... Like how Win10 needed a unix subsystem..

    So actually will Win 11 still need to do that...

    You can shift the start icon to left, I read.

    @donuts I only play PUBG and Rust on Windows, most other games work well with Photon. And as long as you don't use things from Adobe or Autodesk you're pretty much fine on that front as well.

    It’s the same fucking windows just looking different ffs. Have you heard of regedit? Master it and you have all the customization you need, since win 98!
  • 1
    @petergriffin yes tried that and with every update, Windows/Google Chrome puts whatever I disabled back by adding a new key value

    @donuts kill Googa Croom with fire🦊
  • 2
    @donuts also, you can make a .reg file to apply all the shit in one click 🤷‍♂️ or even make a task in task manager to do that on boot/login

    Is this going to be a forced update?

    FUCKING ASSHOLES MUTHERFUCKERS UPDATED MY WINDOWS 10 TO SHIT 11!

    Just mentally preparing.
  • 1
    @Demolishun no. It's incompatible with the vast majority of PCs running win10 now
  • 2
    @Demolishun if that's the case, I guess I'll pirate Windows so that updates don't work.

    Checkmate assholes!

    Then again, I'll just switch everything to use arch and have a shitty VM with GPU passthrough for all my windows software needs.

    @iiii Thank you Jesus!

    By convention, Windows 12 will be the next usable one
  • 1
    @electrineer But Windows 10 is utter shit. "usable" is not how I would describe it. "nearly untolerable" is closer to the mark.

    @electrineer If the rumours are true it will most likely be a Linux distro by then.

    @donuts I'm not a gamer those days but over the year I've seen many Linuxers talking about the increased support of games on Linux distros, notably with the advancement in Proton.

    Disable tpm, your pc will be incompatible with 11. Long as you don't use tpm.

    @atheist what's that?
  • 0
    @donuts Trusted Platform Manager (just googled)

    I am going to figure out how to turn this off on my computer.

    Will turning this off screw up my windows 10 license?

    I'm almost certain that there will be a way to install w11 on non-TPM computers, at least a non-official way. Then the requirement would only apply to new machines, which makes more sense. It's also very likely that the requirement is in place to boost the sales of new machines, perhaps Microsoft made agreements with OEMs.

    It makes me think that the root cause for the new version is possibly an agreement with OEMs to boost sales by planned obsolescence.

    Apparently there already is an easy way to bypass the check. I wonder if they will prevent that by the time of the official release.

    A bunch of games run really well on Linux, the vast majority run fine but less efficiently. Those that still don't work mostly use kernel mode anticheat, so I would never download them on principle anyway.
